View Full Version : Motorsport lip, no bumper
todor 04-07-2008, 01:32 AM Just in case anyone was wondering, this is how a factory 320is looks without the bumper (but with the factory motorsport lip a.k.a. valence a.k.a. front spoiler that came on the -is models). Obviously, I still have those hideous bumper shocks sticking out... but they can be removed, so ignore them. I plan on driving the car like this when the engine swap is done. That bumper is heavy!
And sorry, I don't have better pics of the full car...

tlapham 04-07-2008, 01:37 AM Yeah, i run the same front spoiler with no bumper. now that I removed all that weight, my next step is to lower the front end!
skyflyer 04-07-2008, 01:53 AM No, that is not Motorsport front; it's iS front lip. Motorsport front is an ABS plastic bumper spoiler.
If I were you, I would put Euro bumper. I really like the look of Euro bumper with iS lip (my second favorite bumper/lip combo).
PS: nice wheels :)

oh, i thought those two were the same thing... i guess not. So yeah, mine is just the factory iS lip.
thanks for the comment about the wheels - they are 16x7 Konig rims... they're a sort of a BBS replica.
uberpanzer 04-07-2008, 02:14 AM +1 on the wheels and the looks. Get rid of the James Bond ram bars and you got a decent looking front end there.
And yes, after removing the front bumper and AC (if you've both done that) the car is in DIRE need of a drop in the front. I also moved my battery to the back, so there was a good 100 lbs missing from the front end when I was done. IF you're in the same boat, it looks like you LIFTED the car. :stickoutt
todor 04-07-2008, 02:21 AM I have H&R springs and I'll be putting in an M20 engine, but yeah, I think I will actually need a drop in the end. I've already taken out all A/C components and the bumper, and I've recently decided to go interiorless (stand by for my for-sale thread about my Recaros & custom interior) and make it an all-out lightweight auto-x/track car. So I guess I'll need adjustable coilovers. What do you have for suspension?

Go LEDA or GC. But I think GC is only coilover sleeve??? Not much after market coilover for E21 as far as I know. Or you can get it custom made...
scase318i 04-07-2008, 06:36 AM yeh GC do the sleeve and would need some fab work, those sleeves can be bought other places besides GC.
