I'm now a true fan of Limp home mode in the V12's, Had a Dk go south 3AM in Dark Freezing wrightwood Ca, No Cell phone reception there, The car slowly drove 30 miles to safety on 6 cylinders, DK replaced and Everythings fine now! :D

I'm no 8er, but I'm genuinely curious, whats a DK?

DK = Drossel Klappe, which is basically the throttle body. On the 8's it is "fly by wire" in that there is no throttle cable. It uses a DC Stepper Motor to position the butterfly.

Damn Marv, glad u made it home and got her up & running nice and easily again. Had a similar experience with E32 a few years ago.
Cheers
Go Marv....rather be 6-up than 4-short!!

Hah, you guys look down on 840s like the E36M guys do with autoboxes.
No, I don't look down on them at all. I have traveled with one for many miles accross country and they have no problem running with a V12. It's one of those Ford/Chevy/Dodge things. Just gotta do it!!!

..it's like trying to get to the surface of the moon, only to remain in orbit and then turn around and go home...
