A friend gave me a set of TSX projectors. Just the projectors, no bulbs, ballasts etc.

I'm kinda a newb when it comes to lighting but what do I need to make everything work? I already plan to buy ellipsoid/zkw (which one is better?) headlights and make the brackets etc myself. I'm very good at fab'ing stuff up so that's no problem.

What kind of bulb does it take, D2s?

What do I need to power them?

What are my options as far as DDE styling?

Oh and I'd like to do the foglights at the same time so they match, are there any kits to adapt HID to them?

Thank You all!

TSX projectors take D2S bulbs. Besides that everything else is up to you. You can choose whatever temperature you like but make sure its D2S fitment. When I bought my kit it was direct plug and play but I think I bought D2S adaptors. Not quite sure on that. My set of retrofits has DDE Enhanced in them ZKW housings.

Aren't there different power ballasts? Certain brands to stay away from?

Also what is the igniter, what's it do and where is it located?

Some kits come with ignitors some come with it already built into the ballast. There are multiple brands that are available. Im sure if you just go to the groupbuy section, you will find the most popular ones. There are 35 watt and 55 watts. Obviously the 55 watts will produce more lumens than the 35 watt.

I have done the TSX swap. It is unreal!!! any 35W balast will work, but I much prefer Philips bulbs over the aftermarket garbage.

I wouldnt want to use the 55w b/c the TSX are closed with no ventilation really.

I thought there wasnt much of a difference in heat output between the 35 and 55. Let me give the vendor a PM to confirm.

lol "the vendor". anyway, there isnt much of a heat issue. if it helps you sleep better at night, why not go with a 50w digital?

TSX projectors with Philips bulbs. 35W digital ballasts.

I bought 6k D2S's and hated them.

Can I ask where you sourced those parts? I may (most likely, I'm a perfectionist) consider doing the same!

I got my projectors on craiglist real cheap. I think I paid $75

You can get single projectors on eBay cheap. And just wait for the other. They are rather common.

Then I bought Philips D2S bulbs on eBay for about $90. And the D2S adaptor on eBay for about $12. The exact same one Habbie sells for like $35

PM me if you need any help. I have several write ups

I think it was 25-30 ft. or so.

When I used the 6k's, the output dropped dramatically and the color was too blue. I will take some pix with the 6k's. I still have them. Some people like them b/c they want the slight blueish hue, but I want better light output. I would be happy to sell my brand new Prolumen D2S 6k's

is it just me or is the pic...but the cutoff seems to be a bit too high?

i did my entire retro fit for 500 bucks..thats including TSX projectors, HIDS, and ZkW headlights

I was parked on an incline. It was the only place to get a wide wall for the pic. You can see I was parked on dirt.
