Yeah that's what I was debating over when I was looking at getting a new bimmer. I almost bout an e60 just because I liked their rear end way better than the e90's but I think once you buy the e90 the lights will totally grow on you lol

I like the "slim" rear end of the E92/E93 much better as well. I think the E90 backend looks too much like the E60. I guess that's one reason I really like my E93. :)

This is the OP's 2nd garbage E90 thread. Can we make him go away?

garbage thread??
Mr knowitall, you're the stereotypical guy that gives bimmer owners a bad rap.
i'm sorry my "stupid" questions offended you.:rolleyes

I tend to agree. When I see the sedans on the road at night sometimes I can't tell if its a civic or a bmw from a distance.... Lol that was harsh, but I am extremely partial towards the coupe.

The shape is the same, but IMO they look better if you swap them out with blacklines.

I agree. Can't wait for the redesign. LOVE the coupe though.

are the blacklines made by bmw? is it a euro option? or just an aftermarket thing?

They are a genuine BMW product available at your dealer or online from tischer or circle bmw.

Obviously this is a matter of completely subjective personal taste, but I like the lights on the sedan better than those on the coupe.

The ones on the coupe look like the part on the trunk was designed by a different person than the part on the quarters, and they were not allowed to see what each other was doing. :-)

I agree, the other models have the LED lite brite looking assembly, not attractive LED like Cadillac does on their taillights.

I dislike the lights on the sedan enough that if they were on the coupe I probably wouldn't buy it. It may be extreme I know, but whoever said it resembles a honda or toyota is spot on. Loved the lights on the coupe luckily enough so I didn't have to worry about it.

The only problem I have with the rear is the red turn signals

so the us version has a flashing red light, while the euro uses the blacklines with a amber signal, correct?

Does anyone just not like sedans in general?...oh yeah me, I don't like ugly cars

I'm the opposite - I think the sedan rear end looks ten times better than the coupe's. Not that the sedan's is perfect, but the coupe's just doesn't work for me at all.

no blacklines are not standard in Europe, they're a BMW part that can be added on anywhere.

+1,

I was very glad to learn that my new coupe has the yellow turn signal.

What difference does it makes what color the turn signals are?

Safety reasons for me, I think amber turn signals are easier to see against a red brake light, when you turn you normally brake also. Just a preference for me

I agree. The whole rear-end seems over-designed IMO. MB, Audi (2009), and Lexus sedans all have a better exterior design but BMW has the handling and performance.

Well, I don't want to upset you boys or anything, but because I am an astute connoiseur of fine automobiles...and likely the rest of you are not, I must digress and point to the obvious...one mans likes are another mans hates.

Who really gives a shit who like or dislikes the rear freaking taillights of a coupe or sedan...let's find something a little more worthwhile to debate about...besides anyone with fine taste knows the sedan has the better looking taillights.

The 09 change is only a face lift. Tail lights shape and housing are the same, maybe LED's internally, slightly larger and more elongated grills and slightly different head light housing, front bumper cover slightly different as well. That all I am aware of...from reliable source! For the most part you will not notice the difference unless you take a very very close look, similar to the subtle differences betwen a 07 and 08 5 series.

To not buy a car model that you really like because you find the tail lights offensive would mean that those tail lights must be pretty awful. Yet, when looking at them, while you may not find them among the most beautiful art forms in the world, I cant imagine what you find so objectionable that theyd prevent you from even wanting to own the car after looking at them! Cmon, dude, admit it, Quasimodo theyre not!

+1. When you see that most complaints on this board are about non mechanical issues (cosmetics or ergonomics or just plain OCDing), you realize what a great set of machines BMW is building nowadays.

LOL, one of my jobs long ago was a valet. Hard to believe I still let them take the car sometimes considering how I used to get on some of those cars pretty good! Always tip them well though!

I have a sedan but I prefer the coupe tailights over mine. I got the blacklines however which are a definite improvement over the regular ones. Still...I like that BMW's look stays pretty standard throughout the ages but the e90 tailights are definitely a little different from the straight blocks you see normally. Regardless, that care is a beautiful machine and I love it to all heck...

I always thought the e90 taillights look like the old Infiniti G20. Which is why I have an e93. lol
