Many of us here run Bilstein or Koni's already and would love to upgrade to a height adjustable coilover at a low cost. I think GC has the perfect add-on for us, this is the conversion kit I am talking about:

http://www.ground-control-store.com/products/description.php/II=122/CA=99

Basically it includes everything but the shocks themselves. You use your existing shocks and match them with this kit to gain the ability to adjust your ride height.

Can any vendor PLEASE host this?

Unless you find a dealer that is willing to go against Ground Control's policies you will not get anybody to host this. GC does not handle group buys. Good luck on this one.

Unless you find a dealer that is willing to go against Ground Control's policies you will not get anybody to host this. GC does not handle group buys. Good luck on this one.

And I will take this opportunity to explain why:

My name is Jay from Ground Control, and long ago I had to make a "no group buy" policy to prevent people from getting ripped off.

Several times in the past, forum members (not Bimmerforums) have assembled a group buy, taken money, and then never finished the deal. Our company has been blackmailed to sell "XXX for $XX because XX guys already sent me money". Well, if you know me that doesn't go over real well.....

In two instances, many people never got their money back, and were calling Ground Control to ask about their parts after having been told that GC had been paid. Ground Control was caught in the middle of a scam, and I don't want it to happen again.

Now, this is not the end of the world, because in the past, Ground Control has created "courtesy discounts" for forum members, including some very trick e21 camber plates for the Bimmerforums 320i fans. These courtesy discounts are not a group buy, and do not offend regular GC distributors because they are unusual, unpopular or custom made, and are not from our website or parts list.

I have received a couple of emails, and I will crunch numbers and ideas over the weekend, but no promises. I have to stay within the guidelines for Ground Control, even if I made up the rules a long time ago

Thanks, Jay Morris

one more question does that 429 for the convertion kit, include 4 coilover springs or just 1?

BL4CK-OUT

That's for all four corners. Too bad GC won't do it :(

well Jay said that he might be able to change the price a bit but I think thats the farthest we'll get with this GB. Hopefully he can slightly reduce it, GO JAY!!!

Well if he can do a discount code for members, that would still be helpful. Hopefully it's a "worthy" discount, and not some $5 off crap :P

Hmmm sounds like a lot of interest for GC products. How about a generic GC discount code for bimmerforums to pick and choose what they want, for a limited time only?

Let's be real. GC puts out pretty damn good products for a good price. Trying to leverage what you expect as a discount beyond what he is going to extend is a bit foolish. If you want rate selectable springs, a conversion of your stand struts to coilover and ride height adjustment on all four corners, this deal at even $399 is a bargain. So what he gives you beyond that is all gravy. I know since I bought the setup at full price and still think it was a great buy. Good luck with you deal.

MPact Motorsports sold them on here a while ago...the last time I bought them ;P. Everything went well...

I need some new rates though, something stiffer...I plan to buy a new set of coilovers and shocks that are revalved to the settings I want...

Ground Control has done two discount deals on Bimmerforums, but everybody LOVES the phrase "Group Buy".

So, last time we did this "Group Buy with a Twist" for the e30 crowd. Its a group buy, but you don't have to wait for everybody else.

http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=13211448&postcount=1

One other time we made a discount coupon, and that worked ok too.

Ok, now for the reason for the GC anti group buy policy: People were getting burned. Not by Ground Control, but by the people who set up the so called "Group-Buys". Through various methods, regular guys were stripped of their hard earned money, and GC had no knowledge of it.

I would think that the track school, or our new "Touring" kits would be good candidates.

PM me privately, and we'll see what the interest is.

What is the difference between the Track/School, Touring and Race(or serious track)?

What is the difference between the Track/School, Touring and Race(or serious track)?

Track/School and Touring use the same front housings, and are very similar overall. The Track/School usually has slightly stiffer springs (but it is always customers choice) and therefore stiffer Koni inserts in the housings. The biggest difference is the Touring kit comes with "Street" camber /caster plates. Track /School buyers also often request the "Hybrid" camber/caster plates

The Race kit has different housings, and by virtue of (usually) stiffer springs, uses different Koni strut inserts and bumpstops. Also, the race kit comes with the Race camber /caster plates.
