if i have the lights off and use the hazard high beam (pull on the turn indicator lever)
shouldn't these lights marked in the picture come on?

The second plug you have shown in the picture is for the AUC, which is the Automatic Air Recirculation (seen mostly on Euro cars) Check your A/C Control below the radio. Above the center dial there are three buttons, if the right button of these three shows 2 symbols, then you have AUC, If the button only has 1 symbol then you do not. The plug is usually not connected on most cars.

From what I can tell from th pics, I think you just need to permanently splice those together, I think they may have just been severed somehow. Make sure you use good wire crimps and preferably heat shrink, but electrical tape will do.

Mike- You better give that thing a BIG bath and cleaning before next Saturday! You'll get shot if you show up with a dirty interior like that!!
They can be in poor shape, but damn sure better be clean! You would be surprised at the reaction from the car if you rub on it a little!

i still don't know where the cruise control plugs in. so it's just mocked up right now.

i also stuffed the leather brake boot of the five into the opening of the shifter for the while being.

i got the radio working (finally) but now i gotta dig up the code.
