I need to replace my hood, bumper cover and right front fender on my 1998 540 Sport. Many sites seem to be selling these http://cpwstore.carpartswholesale.com/catalog/images/prodimage/logos/replacement.gifbrand parts. They are about half price of OEM. Anyone have any experience with these parts? To good to be true?? I would appreciate any feedback. Don't want to put junk on my baby!

There is a group buy for a carbon fiber hood on Bimmerfest. It weighs half as much as OEM, and is probably a lot less, and there's a good chance you'll really like how it looks.

There is a group buy for a front M-Tech bumper by DDM Tuning on this site for only $150

2 out of 3 problems solved with style, now find someone parting out a car and you got all three solved.

I lost the tippy tip of my finger once but it grew back. No replacement needed.

you can use those parts in a pinch but do not expect BMW quality.

Go CF on the hood, that'll look amazing. Vorsteiner has one of my favorites, but they're expensive

Perhaps stuid question, but can you paint CF components?

Not at all stupid, and the answer is yes. The cool thing about this (or bad thing, depending on how you look at it) is that the texture of the CF shows through, so from afar the panels will look the same as any other, but on closer inspection you notice the pattern. If you have a painted CF hood, it's like a filter for enthusiasts because only they will notice. Nobody else will.
