My co-worker thinks his car overheated. I asked him what'd the temp said and the response "The car doesn't have a temperature gauge" I find that hard to believe. It's a 530i..not quite sure about the year. '06 or '07 i think. But I can't remember the last time a car did not have a temperature gauge - at the very least a dummy one that only moves if something is wrong.

Can you guys tell me where it's located? Center computer in the dash? In the navigation screen?

My 08 528xi does not have an engine temperature gauge either.

Technical there is no temperature gauge on the 5 series. The replacement is car warm up gauge on the outside of the speed gauge. Upon start up the gauge usually illstruates about 13 lines, which then decrease to three line once the car is warm. your friend I-drive will alert him if the car is overheating.

Thanks. That to me would be the temp guage...cause technically none of the cars have them nowadays. They only tell you "operating within normal" and if goes up that's a dummy light essentially. But yea, he should've recieved a warning.

Yup, your friend is correct. No temp gauge. Not even a dip stick in the 5 series. The computer alerts you to it all.

My 08 528xi has no lines on the outside of the speed dial. It has three lines on the outside of the tach up near the redline mark but they never change. Any additional information will be appreciated. Thanks.

Take a picture please... I find it strange BMW would put the gauge in the 545i, 535i and 550i but not the 530i... I believe you but I just want to see it.
