View Full Version : Comfort Access problems
luckywales 04-03-2008, 11:19 AM Hey guys,
So has anyone here experienced a temperamental comfort access system.
The trunk opens around 50% of the time. The door has issues around 5% of the time.
I would like to know if this is unusual, since my car is about due for its first service, and I might mention it if this is unusual.
It's still awesome, I think, and well worth the $500, though.
aftp302 04-03-2008, 01:44 PM I haven't had any issues with the trunk on my CA equipped car, but I have noticed the ~5% failure rate on the door lock/unlock. Usually I have to remove my hand and place it in/on again.
BillSD 04-03-2008, 03:02 PM I exerience pretty much what you are describing. My truck does better but still not as good as the doors. I'd still buy it again though!
pnykiller2000 04-05-2008, 08:26 PM I've had this problem as well. Just make sure your keys aren't in your pocket or anything and you'll have better results. What I don't like is I can't open both doors on my coupe with comfort access, I either have to use the keypad or unlock it maually inside the car.

That is a configurable option IIRC. I set mine via iDrive to open all 4 doors using one handle-touch.

Where else would your keys be if they're not in your pocket? I thought the whole thing about comfort access is that the keys pretty much stay in your pocket the whole time.

your man purse? :shifty
ibimmer346 04-06-2008, 03:58 AM I sometimes have issues with the CA. When locking the doors, it sometimes takes two tries pressing the little grooves until the car locks. As for the trunk, I'd say it works about 85% first try for me. Ironically if I stand too close to the trunk it seems to mess up more often. Overall, the slight annoyance is more than made up with the convenience of never touching the key!
tallen32 04-06-2008, 04:32 AM I never have had issues with my trunk but my doors dont alway work. Sometimes there is a delay or I have to pull FOB out and press the unlock button. Also when locking i sometimes have to hit the grooves twice or more to get them to lock.
luckywales 04-06-2008, 01:13 PM Sounds like my experience is normal-ish. Apart from the don't keep it in your pocket - very useful responses.

I have a brand new coupe and have had similar issues with the trunk not opening, but not 50% of the time. Maybe 1 out of 10 times it doesn't. I have had a delayed action on it some times too, where I have to touch the trunk bumps/handle a couple times to get it open
TeaRoy 04-07-2008, 01:52 PM Maybe I'm lucky, but I think mine works every time. Also...on the coupe...even without iDrive...you can configure it so both doors open with the touch of the handle. It's in the manual somewhere.
SocratesBMW 04-07-2008, 02:58 PM Never had an issue.
shifterkart33 04-07-2008, 04:05 PM You're doing much better than me. I bet the door only locks or unlocks 25% of the time on the first try for me. If I take the key out of my pocket it works better, but that kind of defeats the purpose.
