I remember that and lived it. I used to build Rocket powered racecars and jet cars. The afterburner I built for the worlds fastest boat still hlods the record one way speed 327mph, and the two way of 319. I remember being at the local track with the rocket running over 300 mph when the fuelers were still under 230mph. nice find ///J.T.///

If the rumors about people blowing themselves up were true, it's not surprising the company went out of business in '69. I'd say there were some long-term 'survivability' issues inherent in their designs.

Another hilarious part of the article was that people strapped those micro-rockets to their karts and did in excess of 150 mph. Wonder if they bothered with seat belts?

One of the few surviving Turbonique drag karts was on Ebay last year. It was a wicked-looking little suicide machine, with skinny little tires and no roll cage whatsoever. Opening bid was somewhere in the $50,000 range, if I recall. I don't think it sold. Seller allowed no test drives, surprisingly.

I'd kill to work for a company like that.

I'd probably get killed by something in a company like that.

Haha fixed!

That stuff is crazy! And dangerous, and they didn't even care - I want.

haha I love the reference to the good 'ol game of "automotive Chicken" that they mentioned in that article... classic.

Even if you got one the fuel would be really hard to get. They might put you on terrorist watch just for having the fuel. LOL ///J.T.///

No problemo here... I think I'm already on that list anyway, lol

besides, you can always whip up a batch of fuel in your garage, right?
mess with the ratios a little bit, and you could develop an even more powerful fuel:evil2:devillook

or you could blow your garage sky-high....
