Easy question but searching gave me no luck: where is the e38 fuel pump relay? Picture or diagram, please.

edit: the car in question is a 1995 740i.

In the trunk, above the battery, behind a felt flap. You should see 3 relays. Look for a relay with 4 wires, there should be a thin black/violet wire and a thicker black/violet wire. the othe 2 wires should be red/white/yellow and red/violet. The relay is not always in the location shown. Check the wire colors.

Okay, I have a follow-up:

How do you jump the fuel pump? I have three connections. In fact, someone has already labeled the connection (see pic). However, I can't get the fuel pump to react at all. Do I need to have a third connection or is a positive/negative all that's needed? Unfortunately I don't have wiring diagrams.

With pump still connected, remove the relay, jump the red/white/yellow wire to the larger of the black/violet wires and the pump should run, assuming that you have power on the red/white/yellow wire AND that you have a good ground to the fuel pump. If not, jump power and ground to the corresponding pins at the fuel pump connector, ground is usually brown, you already know the power wire color. Have fun and order a new pump.:D

...and one more: which relays are interchangeable with the fuel pump relay? I've read on other e38's the lambda probe, motronic, starter interlock, but couldn't find my specific part number on realoem to verify. The part # relay I pulled reads 0332019456. I haven't yet uncovered the other relays in the front to physically compare, though that may be the best way to go about it.

Here's the relay for the fuel pump (see pic). I stole this pic and the part # 0332019456 off of autohausaz.com's website. $6.80 is the current price, very nice!

And... pump is ordered!

Okay, replaced pump and relay. Still in no start situation. Need help... is there a pump priming process? Throwing zero codes on the bus. I hate to throw money at a car but it looks like similar problems have been solved with a CPS.

Edit: It's now throwing a code: Control Unit Supply. I assume that's a fuel starvation type of code.
