I have read several threads about Easy Care and Warrentech. I was just looking for any additional information on which seems to be the best. I had considered rolling the dice a little on my new purchase and waiting for a year or so to purchase the warranty, but not sure. My new 750IL has only 53,000 miles and very good service records and nothing major was found at pre-purchase inspection. I have read where most major replacement issues seem to come around 100,000 miles other than the radiator. I doubt I will gamble without an after market warranty for long if at all, but would love to know opinions on these or any others that are good. Thanks

I've had a Warrantech warranty on a 540i6. The tranny went out at 140k, still under warranty, and they covered the internal parts ONLY, and zero labor. Of course, a manual 6 speed tranny is rebuildable by practically no one so they covered nothing. Horrible experience. As I was told before getting the warranty, it's not likely you'll get your money out of it. My car ended up having many 'aging' problems over the course of its warranty life. They paid out a total of $543.17 of the $6,000+ in repairs. Cost of warranty was $1,400 for 24 months, 50,000 miles. I don't think my 540i6 was rare, it had known problems (and was admittedly high mileage) and I may get one again in the future... but definitely not getting any aftermarket warranty.

When I bought my 1999 750iL with 56,000 miles, I got a warranty from Heritage through the selling dealer. It cost me about $3,500 and ended up saving me at least $2K when it expired at 106,000 miles. I don't work on my car myself so there was no option of DIY to save on labor.
I don't think Heritage's customer support is all that great (they have no real website, don't like to publish their phone number, always seemed to be hiding, etc.) but when my mechanic needed to get reimbursed from them, he got it done.
I got two sets of front thrust arm bushings covered by them, along with a valve cover gasket (among other fixes I forget). The gasket was a fairly cheap part but the labor was a lot to get in there. I told my mechanic to replace every rubber bushing or o-ring that he came across while reassembling the engine with a new one since the labor was already paid for. It cost me an extra $800 or so but having all those parts replaced at 80,000 miles gives me a nice peace of mind to reach 200K.
BTW, I don't think radiators and expansion tanks (i.e., the most likely thing to break) are covered by many warranties, unless it's an exclusionary warranty ("everything is covered except...").
