Does it look like my clutch is slipping or other problem? thanks.

Geno325is 04-02-2008, 01:56 PM whats your clutch right now?
e34m535t 04-02-2008, 01:57 PM If your running a Spec Stage 2 I wouldn't doubt its slipping. My spec Stage 3 held fine until recently. If I shift hard into 4th gear, it will slip. I think the Stage 2 is Kevlar, so I don't think it'll do as well.
kingsiang 04-02-2008, 02:05 PM The clutch is a e34 m5 clutch performance organic clutch.
I maybe mistaken calling it stage 2. As when i ordered it with UUC it stated stage 2 flywheel with performance organic clutch.
even then UUC's website rate the e34 m5 Performance organic to be at 490ftlb.
Geno325is 04-02-2008, 02:08 PM youre already at 400tq wheel by 3500-4k, i doubt your clutch is holding that
e34m535t 04-02-2008, 02:26 PM Ah alright, I saw the "spec stage 2" in your sig. Your probably pushing your Performance Organic clutch, thats a big Torque jump in your dyno.

+1
kingsiang 04-02-2008, 08:01 PM So it look like my clutch is slipping?

Sometimes the numbers that are given for power/torque ratings are flywheel numbers.
Geno325is 04-02-2008, 09:41 PM graph shows SAE corrected, so ive never seen corrected flywheel/bhp numbers before

I had a E34 m5 clutch setup that was able to hold around 390ftlb of torque and I was having issues with the clutch holding on the dyno. I did some pulls and I was holding around aprox 320rwtq and the clutch was begining to smell etc. I did some calculations and I figured it must of been flywheel numbers. So the next setup I went with was well over rated so I wouldnt have that happen again.

He's talking about the clutch ratings (bhp) not dyno numbers, if I got it right.
I seriously doubt the organic clutch can hold that much torque... So, yeah, your clutch is probably slipping.

I agree. That clutch is past its holding ability.
Geno325is 04-02-2008, 11:16 PM ya, greg was right - I had dyno graph on the brain...
kingsiang 04-03-2008, 01:16 AM oh darn, i thought they hold up to 490ftlb of torque.
HyperHoHo 04-03-2008, 02:19 AM The clutch you have in the car is crap. Those things don't hold power. It's pretty easy to tell if the clutch is slipping.
We were making less torque than you on Andre's car on spray 4 years ago with that clutch and it was already slipping.
kingsiang 04-03-2008, 12:53 PM hey andrew... u seem like dissappeard for a while now. hows things going with the supra?
So its the clutch rite?
someone told me it might have been the boost controller, but it was connected to the wastegate without any boost controller and the spring was set to 11psi. i also double checked the datalog and it kept constant around 180kpa. which is about 11psi.
what clutches do people here use with up to about 500 or more torque? cause im going to set my low boost to 14psi and high around 18psi (with meth). which is going to put more more than 500 ftlb of torque.
Should i use the stock flywheel too? because it creates more load for slightly faster spool.

Keep in mind the clutch ratings are at the crank.

kingsiang 04-04-2008, 12:12 AM im debating on
uuc's cerametalic 530ftlb of torque $688
CM FX700 with flywheel for $1400 (i dont know what is the torque rating on these) and
DXDclutch stage The Stage 4 will hold 525ftlb $750 the Stage 5 will hold 735ftlb $925 <--- pretty pricey tho.
is there any other brand im missing out?
im also afraid of doing the same mistake. i bought the organic thinking i will be happy with 300+ wheel hp, and changed my mind only a few thousand miles on the supercharger.
Sa///M3 04-04-2008, 02:31 AM Go fx700 - I believe CC ran it fine up to 800-900bhp.
328iJunkie 04-04-2008, 04:37 AM jeebus. Youve got some torque there.
kingsiang 04-04-2008, 02:09 PM Now anyone know where can i get the fx700 for cheap?
The cheapest that i could find so far is 1360 + shipping.
What happend to the thread with all the listings of parts and prices. i couldnt find it.
