WHen I had my e36 I read some DIY articles about removing the grey from the rocker panels, I was wondering if the same procedure would work for the e34?

There's no color matched paint under the rocker panel coating.

How to paint them:
Pull off the trim under the doors and mask off the area. Sand the coating with some 120 grit. Paint with gun or can. Wet-sand. Paint again. Clear coat. Done.

I did mine while at a local meet/cookout and they looked great.
