View Full Version : E65/E66 Pre or Post Facelift
CaptHerb 04-01-2008, 02:34 PM Which do you prefer on the current 7 pre-facelift or post-facelift?
Can you justify the extra 15-20k for a facelifted one?
Is there any other differences besides the body?
Discus
burn740i 04-01-2008, 02:43 PM The only pre-facelift I would buy is the 760i, and I would then spend the money to facelift it.
seven11 04-01-2008, 09:33 PM i have a pre facelift 7 and there is no way i would spend about $6500 parts plus another 3 or so in labor, talking about $10k here.
i'd rather sell my car and invest that money to get a 2006 with that facelift ;)
M62pwrdE38 04-01-2008, 09:54 PM Post facelift looks a infinite amount better.
smackin 04-01-2008, 10:02 PM Anything has to look better than the pre-facelift 7 e65

Yeah, I would totally agree with you, but they only sold the 760i in the states in pre-facelift form. It would cost a whole lot more than $10k do transplant an N73 V12 into a 2006+ 750i.
Colonel 04-01-2008, 10:09 PM True, the only way I'd get an 02-05 is if it has the sport package with comfort seats and if it was insanely cheap. The facelift in 06 was so incredibly better, they kept the awesome interior and fixed all the problems of the exterior, it's one of the best cars on the road right now. In fact the only way to improve on the design would be for bmw to actually re-design the entire car (which they are currently doing right now :D). I like the 745, I think it's a great car, but there's no comparison when it's parked next to a 750.
Colonel 04-01-2008, 10:25 PM I'd feel a lot better if every 745 I came across looked like this:

I know that, you're not listening. The 760i was only sold here pre-facelift. Facelifted V12's were only offered in Li form. I'm saying that the only pre-facelift E65 I would want is the 760i, and that I would then update it.

I've seen a couple 06 or 07 760i sports sold on ebay not too long ago in the USA market, those are really nice!
CaptHerb 04-02-2008, 01:48 AM Does the post-facelift trunk fit on a pre-facelift?

Relax, people are just expressing their opinions. You are lucky to have such a nice car, I'd love to have a 745! (stupid college tuition... )
Does the post-facelift trunk fit on a pre-facelift?
Yes. But you will have to change your tailights to really match, other wise it will look wierd since the lighting will have different patterns when lit.
Everyone else, come on now... Where's your imagination. If it has to be completely stock, I'd take a post-facelift rear end but am fine with either for the front end.
Now of course if I had one I'd mod it to make it look even more awesome, so here's some pics for you guys so you can see just how amazingly sexy these cars are:

CaptHerb 04-02-2008, 11:22 AM So the trunk fits without any modification? Because the front isn't that hideous just the back is.

Sorry... Not convinced.

bummer. what highend 4 door luxury sedans do you like?
Mercedes S Class?
Mercedes CLS?
Lexus LS?
Audi A8?
Masseratti Quattroporte?
Porsche Panamera?
Aston Martin Rapide?
Rollys Royce Phantom?
rudyE38 04-03-2008, 05:16 PM pre-face lift looks more aggressive with the body kit, without post facelift looks better.
CaptHerb 04-03-2008, 06:34 PM I still have a question :shifty

Yes the trunk fits. Its the same trunk, with a different molded edge at the back and the taillight configuration.
The other things to change in the rear for a full upgrade would be taillights on the quarter panels and the bumper.
SBK740 04-03-2008, 11:05 PM Definately post face lift. Massively de-emphasizes the bangle butt..

I think all of those that you mention are a cleaner, more cohesive exterior design.

Yea, you're right. I'd much rather be driving this. Girls included.
