has anyone tried to put some exhaust tips on their stock exhaust? (e39).
i wanted to put on a nice little stainless steel tip but i looked under and saw that the stock tip bends down towards the ground.
Mercedes has exhaust tips for some of their cars that have holes on the top so that one can slide the tips up into the stock tip but what about for BMW? anyone done custom work?

Haven't seen it done yet...but I haven't been looking either.
My biggest complaint with exhaust tips is having to dodge them on the road when they fall off...
Just get an aftermarket exhaust :)

I have those shove-on tips on my 525, they don't fall off if you get the ones designed for your model, NOT the turn the screw type.
Have you tried bavauto.com? They have tips, maybe someone make some tips that curve. The stealer also can get tips for most models.
How about having the local muffler shop cut the elbow off and attach a long chrome straight?

i don't think it's possible on the e39 due to the design of the stock exhaust. i think your only option is to get an aftermarket exhaust or muffler.

Yes i did asked my local exhaust shop and they said they need to do some cutting and welding work on the body ...man..this will mess my bumper. So i decide to do it off later.
