View Full Version : For Sale: 1995 325i, 5sp, Black/Black (CT) rtheriaque 03-30-2008, 06:48 PM Car is sold. Thanks. Sentaruu 03-30-2008, 06:59 PM pics/price! rtheriaque 03-30-2008, 07:02 PM As I stated, please feel free to contact me off the board for pics, and please make an offer. The values attached to these cars vary quite wildly in online publications, and I'm posting the car here first to those more knowledgeable about them rather than Craig's List as I'd rather give a good, fair deal to an enthusiast than somebody off the street. rtheriaque 03-30-2008, 07:17 PM Here you go- http://www.flickr.com/photos/9238846@N08/sets/72157604316648534/ The car has an appointment to be fully detailed this week, so she'll look as she does in the pics with her summer shoes. I'll put the summer rims back on before the detailing as well so they get the treatment. Ladzio 03-30-2008, 09:14 PM You do not accept PMs and you did not list e-mail. How can I contact you? Looking for a car for my friend and this one seems to fit what he wants. Any rust? Documented car history available for review? Outstanding issues as of now? Collision repairs if any? What are you looking to get for it? rtheriaque 03-30-2008, 09:47 PM My mistake. I didn't realize PM and email features weren't available until I had a minimum number of posts. That's.. Annoying. The car has superficial rust on the leading edge of driver's side running board and at the base of the driver's door. It has not rotted through and the metal is still solid. The driver's side sway bar mount rotted out due to a clogged drain hole four years ago. I fabricated a replacement from sheet steel, welded it to the frame, and undercoated it. In terms of documented history, the car hasn't been to a shop for work- I do all of my own maintenance. I'll make my notes electronic tomorrow. In terms of the scary E36 items, however, the entire cooling system was refreshed: the water pump and thermostat have about 20k, the radiator less than 10k, timing chain tensioner 15k, coil packs/boots 10k, thermostatic fan clutch (all of these items are less than 2 years old). The Mobil1 is changed at most every 6 months (approximately 5k miles) and is never noticeably down on the dipstick at the time of replacement. I've never had a vehicle easier on oil. The driver's side rear door was hit at a gas station. The door was replaced and shot with color-matched paint. Olender's in Vernon, CT did a fantastic job- the repair is completely transparent. They transfer everything, so even my parking permits made it over. Outstanding issues: SRS light remains on for 90 seconds on startup (bad seat sensor). ABS light is on (rear right wheel speed sensor- I didn't remove it when replacing the wheel bearing and damaged it). Temperature sensor to OBC (not the IAT nor related in any way) reads -35F, leading to warning on startup, Crack on underside of grey bumper- I drove home from work in a foot of snow before the plows were out and the stress cracked the plastic- it's difficult to see and can be easily hidden with two sheet metal screws and a scrap of iron. KBB lists it at $4k private party, NADA at $4500, Edmunds around $3250k. It's going $3,250 firm on Craig's List, $3k OBO here. I just bought the S4 and would like to free up the driveway space before my wife has me sleeping in one of my three cars in the driveway (probably the '76 2002 since it's the crappiest and draftiest)... Ladzio 03-30-2008, 10:12 PM Thanks for a complete response. I will relate it to my friend. rtheriaque 03-30-2008, 10:20 PM Here are my notes. Now how is the clutch? Also, could you post pictures of interior. What's the condition of the seats, carpet, headliner, doorpanels. rtheriaque 03-31-2008, 09:17 AM I never replaced the clutch, nor has there been need. The only work that's been done there is regular bleeding of the hydraulic line to the slave cylinder. Even in the coldest weather with a cold car, it doesn't slip. No driveline slap, either. Guibo/center bearing are in good shape. No throw-out bearing noise. That transmission has been utterly bulletproof- the magnet rarely collects very little by the time I swap fluids. I'll take pictures of the interior after the detailing (scheduled for Wednesday, Apr. 9th). The winter floor mats make it look ridiculous (Marvin the Martian- clearance at Autozone one winter and I've used them in winter ever since). The driver's side seat has two pinholes on the entry side. There is elbow-wear on the center armrest. The steering wheel is smooth from 10-12:00 (where my hand always is). The dash looks fantastic- no cracks or fading. The headliner is very clean- there's a shadow of a stain on the sunroof liner, but you need to look for it. The rear deck carpeting is an interesting shade of purple/blue from the sun, but that seems fairly common. The only interior modifications were the hollowing of the rear center armrest for the CD Changer (cool mod- trust me ;)) and a subwoofer control was installed next to the seat heater controls. I just replaced all of the bulbs in the OBC- one of those things that I never did for myself but decided was necessary for prepping for sale. What a difference! The only other interior "issue" is the bright orange traction control warning when the car is running. I removed the traction control throttle body for a number of reasons. I felt it was a horrific method of traction control to just take power away from the engine to the point of actually stalling the car (the bypass air simply isn't enough). Additionally, the throttle body itself was a fraction of the size of the main throttle body. The M3 roaster intake boot provided the correct connection from the airbox (later, CAI) to the drive throttle body with all of the necessary vacuum lines. Viola- nice, clean install, but it left me with an annoying dash idiot light. I never got around to removing the bulb. Any of these modifications can be returned to stock form for the sale if the buyer so desires. I'd recommend keeping the chip, however, as the gas mileage was noticeably better (added power notwithstanding) as long as one didn't get too crazy with the skinny pedal. Ladzio 03-31-2008, 05:23 PM Cool. We would like to check out the car in person. I'll e-mail you. monkey215 04-03-2008, 12:42 AM still for sale? rtheriaque 04-03-2008, 06:18 AM Yes. monkey215 04-03-2008, 09:19 AM would u do 2500 cash rtheriaque 04-03-2008, 09:42 AM Please contact me off the boards: rtheriaque at gmail dot com. rtheriaque 04-06-2008, 07:55 AM Well, folks, I'm going to entertain final offers and accept one shortly.
