Do you have a random orbital? If you don't and just want to hide the swirls, Meguiars NXT 2.0 is quite good. Klasse All-in-one / Sealant Glaze are pretty good at that too (and will last longer).

If you want to correct them, you'll need to apply a polish with an orbital - say Menzerna Intensive polish with an orange pad followed by Menzerna nano polish with a white. If you don't have access to those, Meguiars #83 followed by #9.

You'll get a lot more responses in the detailing forum...

I was just looking at this one:

http://www.detailedimage.com/Poorboys-World-M1/Nattys-Blue-Paste-Wax-P30/

Unleash the full potential of your dark colored paint with Poorboy’s World Natty’s Paste Wax Blue, which is specially designed for darker colored paints. It truly looks great on any color but it really makes the darker colored paints look stunning. Apply one coat or multiple coats and you’ll add that deep gloss that is impossible to get with a regular wax. The deep and rich gloss left behind will leave your paint with a jaw dropping shine that makes this product so desirable. This carnauba wax is very strong too so it shields your clear coat from nature’s harsh elements. Best of all the Natty’s Paste Wax Blue applies and removes relatively easy making it a quick and easy way to get the most out of each detail. Apply a coat after a full detail, before shows or just after washing for an extraordinary shine. Let the Natty’s Blue Paste Wax take your paint to the next level.

I've got Klasse on my car. Doesn't really cover any swirl marks. I'm gonna have to get someone to work those out for me. But I will say, that it's been almost a year since I gave my car the full Klasse treatment and water still beads up nicely.

Don't bother using scratchX to remove swirls. Time you are done doing that, your hand/arm will be dead. I'm a fan of the NXT stuff too, only downside is that it doesn't last very long. If you are trying to cover up the swirls, use the gold class paste.

Or to get rid of them for sure. Get a DA. Get some Menzerna SIP, and Nano Polish. For sealant I use Klasse HFS, and Poorboys Red Paste Wax..........

If you want that scratch X to work. Your going to have to work your hand into the paint VERY hard...........

Your going to be sore.......

if you just want a wax, I would say go with Zymol.
if you want a whole system, go with Zaino, the gloss and swirl mark coverage it amazing (you do as many coats as you see fit). it is however a bit of a time commitment, but is well worth it IMO.

Gold Class is good too make your car look good at that moment. Provides little protection, but it feels nice. :)

Your never going to get rid of the swirls permently unless you get a DA.....Everything else like scratch X/Meguiars are mostly fillers..........

My first car was black, I loved washing it but the swirl marks and dust would collect seconds from just cleaning it. I would definately stay away from paste waxes, go with liquid waxes instead.

Thats because you live in California........And I bet you were using bath towels to dry your car.........

Paste Waxes work great IMO. If that is all your going to do.........They don't last that long, only about 1-2 months.

Liquid Waxes don't contain as much carnauba wax as Paste waxes. Dunno why, but they don't. So they don't last as long, and they sure don't protect your paint as well............

I used terry cloth and microfiber towels. They sucked.
I hated getting the paste everywhere and
the paste would crack after awhile in the container.
I upgraded to meguiar natural chamois towels now.
Once a bird pooped on my car just as I was done waxing it. *cries*

If I were you guys I would visit your local detail supply store. They have higher quality products that will give you better results than those over the counter brands. Either that or check out sites like www.detailedimage.com or www.autogeek.net

ps. I can't believe how many times monkey incorrectly used "your" in this thread.

The swirls you're gonna have to get rid of with polish and glaze.
This was waxed with Nattys in October.

Meguiar's NXT 2.0 is not only probably one of the best waxes you can buy off the shelf, but one of the best waxes out on the market, period. It is one of the best protecting waxes I have ever used and has pretty good durability.

As far as getting rid of the swirls, you will not be able to do this without the aid a machine. Even by hand, a hand glaze will not provide enough cover up to get rid of swirls, and believe me, they are right in saying that trying to use ScratchX over the whole car is going to be a better workout than you could ever get from the gym. If you don't believe us, go ahead and tape off a 12"x12" part of the car with blue painters tape, and WORK ScratchX until you get the finish to where you want it. All the sudden the rest of the car won't seem so easy and you may find a gym replacement ;)

I know that probably isn't what you wanted to hear, but it is the honest truth. Can you get your car looking good by hand; yes. Can you get it showcar perfect? Not likely.

Try Zaino. I'm swirl-free and believe me, my 8 had bad swirls when I took ownership.

You will hurt more than the any work out you have done using scratch x  you have to rub it in for a good minute with 15 lbs of pressure, repeat 3 times, and then repeat about 25 more over the entire car, good luck with that ! that was in te olden days however :lol

For Meg's products, I've always preferred Gold Class. I use #26 more than the Gold Class, but I've always thought they are very similar. I just used the NXT yesterday for the first time on a Lexus RX300 and wasn't that impressed (probably had something to do with the beige color of the car). Only good thing was that it smelled nice.

For higher end waxes that you can't buy in the store, I would say Pinnacle Liquid or Sovereign or Natty's Blue. If you want to get real fancy you can get some Zymol Royale :shifty:alright

i have a black e46 and i've been using adam's buttery wax. its pretty awesome. its a hybrid of polish and wax, paint comes out really nice and wet looking. my only gripe is that the first owner didnt take care of the car very well so it has a lot of swirl marks that i need to take off. also i think they had some work done on it cause the paint isnt the same all around. but yeah adams is really great!

Zymol Carbon or Concourse Wax, depending on the budget, are the best prodcuts I have ever used on a black car. They are expensive, and they don't last that long. However, they are as deeply lusterous as anyone could hope for.
