Moving up to Chicago... looks like I won't be able to wash my baby myself anymore, well at least not in front of my apt. Can you guys recommend any places that are careful and won't scratch the paint?

View Full Version : Recommended hand car wash places in Chicago? quattro PETE 03-29-2008, 09:07 PM Moving up to Chicago... looks like I won't be able to wash my baby myself anymore, well at least not in front of my apt. Can you guys recommend any places that are careful and won't scratch the paint? cat97628 03-29-2008, 09:36 PM I just went to the Delta Sonic on 159th Street and was amazed at the work those guys did. Full detail on e320 wagon for 125.00. Wash Wax interior detail leather cleaning. They had the car for 8 hours and it showed. quattro PETE 03-29-2008, 09:44 PM Do they have anything cheaper? I just need a basic exterior wash. cat97628 03-30-2008, 12:45 AM oh yes they offer all levels of detailing upto a showroom detail that includes claybar. I was very happy, I will now send my cars to them in the fall to get them ready for winter. david55838 03-30-2008, 07:44 AM I have no problem using the 'touchless' wash facilities, those that don't you the swirling brushes or shaking chamois. Most of them also have jets that squirt water under your car - good for washing at least some of the road salt off during the winter. Not a perfect solution, but cheaper and won't damage the paint. rush bimmer 03-30-2008, 05:25 PM Theres a place in the north burbs called Platinum Car Wash on Waukegan road. It may technically be in Skokie, IL. I go there all the time..its $10 for a great wash! gurba202 03-30-2008, 10:42 PM there are tons of hand car washes... it would help if I knew the area you're moving to, so I can tell you the closest ones to you... quattro PETE 03-31-2008, 09:33 AM gurba202, i'll be in South Loop. GnG Detail1 03-31-2008, 12:37 PM I sent some of you guys PM's. I'm close to Chicago and well worth it...give me a try...you won't regret it! Oh and of course...discounts for members of the forum! hayabusa4448 03-31-2008, 04:12 PM Theres a place in the north burbs called Platinum Car Wash on Waukegan road. I go there all the time..its $10 for a great wash! i live like 5 min away from platinum wash. the only car i take there is my 93 mitsubishi. its a machine car wash and they only dry the car with towels. my 3 series is too low for the rail and on my friends m5 the rim got scratched going thru the rail so i never took mine...i personally preffer hand car wash. i usually go to "we wash" car wash on 4660 w lawrence in chicago. all by hand , they vacuum inside , clean the dash board, windows , and clean the rims really nicely....can't beat it for 10$ . Sorry, I can't recall the name at the moment. -N quattro PETE 03-31-2008, 05:48 PM In the south loop there's a pretty good place around Wabash and Cullerton. Gonna check it out. quattro PETE 05-10-2008, 01:35 AM In the south loop there's a pretty good place around Wabash and Cullerton. The car wash is on Wabash, east side of the street. OK... after taking my car there 3 times, I must officialy warn everyone not to go there. The place is called "Strictly by Hand", but it should be called "Strictly by Hand we scratch your car". In 2 years of me washing this car myself I didn't put nearly as many swirlmarks on it as they did. I guess I have to keep looking... now not only for a carwash but also for a detail shop that will remove all those swirls. :mad BillB 05-10-2008, 01:44 AM Go to Chicago Auto Center, Demetri does an AMAZING job and is cheap as hell.
