I'm looking to upgrade from my '02 530i and am curious how much "real world" power difference there is between the '05 and '06 530i. I know that the '05 was 225HP/215TQ and the '06 is 255/220. The torque is so close that I'm wondering is it's worth the extra bucks to get an '06. Other than power, they appear to be identical cars.

Any thoughts?

The G35 is history - forgot to update my profile. Liked the car but the gas mileage was brutality. I put in tons of road miles for work, and couldn't stomach the 19mpg I was getting on the highway. (FYI, my '02 530i gets around 25mpg.) -TMc

I've driven both motors in the Z4 and in various 3-series. The N52 is worth it. At low RPM it's more tractable than the M54, and at high rpm it screams like an M3. Really great engine.
