One of my leads wants me to "wax" his boat. I know that there may be more to it than he understands....more than just waxing.
Does anyone know of any good tutorials for detailing boats? Something that will inform me of products to use and such... I would like to fully understand what's involved before I bid or even say I will detail his boat.
In case it matters to some. It is only a 10' boat.

On my boat i first scrub it down with acid, then use a rotary polisher with some marine cleaner/wax. I sometimes put a layer of another wax over that. It comes out nice, but it takes for ever to get the bottom clean.

I'm new to the forum, and will be picking up a new 335i Convertible next week. I was looking for a few ideas on maintaining the new car and noticed your post. I will tell you that you don't want to use any car polishes or waxes on your friends boat!!!
You did not say how old the boat is, or what condition the gel coat is in. 3M, Meguiar's, Interlux are probably the most popular. You won't go wrong with any of them, IMHO.
I've used Meguiar's products (Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Flagship Premium Wax & Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Polish & Gloss Enhancer #45) and have been satisfied with the results. This year I'm switching to Interlux products based on the information at Properboatcare.com (http://www.properboatcare.com/inprmawaxwic.html)
Good luck.
