My trunk lid was a mess, looks like somebody set something on it and forgot, start driving away cause it had deep long scratches all down the length of the trunk, not to mention a million swirls and otherwise shitty 10 year old paint.

I started out with 2000grit wet sanding, i was just doing the scratches, when i finished i noticed 95% of the trunk was scratches lol.. Anyways, I then followed up with Menzerna Intensive polish on a yellow lake county pad using my porter cable polisher, i then followed that up with Menzerna final polish on a white pad, and last Meguires poly-sealant #20 applied with a grey pad. Each stage was cleaned off with microfiber bonnets over a lambs wool pad.

Gotta be honest after the sanding i was getting pretty nervous, seeing the paint with NO shine at all lol.. Anyways, I couldn't be happier with the final results, the scratches and swirls are completely gone and the paint has a deeper finish than I could have ever imagined.

yeah the rest of the car looks bad too lol, but the trunk was the only panel that was completely scratched up, I was also using the trunk as a "test piece" since it has a little rust spot that needs to be repaired anyways, so i figured if i messed up it wouldn't matter as it needs to be resprayed eventually anyways. I can't wait to polish the rest of the car now :-) There are a couple little scratches I want to wetsand as well but nothing as bad as what I had on my trunklid.

you are probaly taking a lil to much clear off with your pad choice, always start with least aggresive, like a white LC pad, and if that doesnt work then the orange and then the yellow, you want to conserve that clear

PS Great work!

Good job! It seems like you are using too much product on the pad. I'd be careful with wet sanding without rotary.
