I am looking to sell a complete *converted* M3 drive train for your 2002. I bought the car to take all of the drive train out and put it into my round taillight car. The current car that "holds" the drive train may be restorable, however I prefer the round taillight cars and have not really considered it.
the engine is out of a 1989 e30 M3 that had 60k miles. during the conversion the valves were lapped, the timing/water/oil pumps changed. car makes excellent uniform compression on all cylinders. runs excellent. the tranny is out of a 320, modified for the crank trigger signal. although it shifts well, there is some spring in the shifting mechanism which is broken... it does not jump back to the 1-2 gate.
the conversion parts were supplied by aardvarc ($3-$4k worth of receipts) and include new tii style exhaust, engine vibration damper, etc. the conversion is very clean, I figured I could swap it into my car in a long weekend or two.
the car has eibach springs, braided lines, newly rebuilt 3.90 LSD and can be yours. I have a tii radiator that has been rodded/boiled that goes with it, as well as most of the parts to perform a "big-brake" conversion. medical difficulties force me to sell, will listen to any serious offers. I bought the car for about $6k and feel that was a good deal at the time. these motors are getting very scarce and in good shape go for $4k+. add in the (completed) conversion and this has to be worth something to somebody. attached are some links. disregard the web page comments about "wanting to trade" please.
the car is located in cookeville, tennessee. http://www.boxey.com/bmw2002/m2002.html
for those of you that might be interested in more pictures of the chassis it is sitting in http://www.boxey.com/bmw2002/newpictures/newpics.html
thanks,
