It was in a e36 m3 with a hd-642dtm component system with two ms-80 8 subs in the back. It was the cleanest system i have ever heard and installers agreed. This car has won sq competions all around California. Does anyone have any feedback on them and also is anybody interested in doing a GP on these. They are well worth my money. I know somebody that sells these for really cheap. He told me that if i get more than 5 people to buy the HD-642DTM he can drop the price These components retail for 600 and he said he can get them for much much lower. If i can get a 5 extra heads it will chop this tag down to 480 plus shipping. If we get more heads in this GP we can bring it down even more. Ask around if you guys dont believe me on how incredible these components are.

(this is High end Car Speakers...Please don't compare MB quarts with these speakers because they blow them out of the water!)

CDT's? How do they compare with the ultrahighend speakers like Rainbow? And high-end speakers like Dynaudio and Diamond Audio?

Pricing? I might be interested...

I think that the dynaudio speakers are the best. I have had many Quarts and the sound quality from the dyn's in my opinion surpass it. The Diamonds are ok...the Mack daddy subs sound good but they are not in the same league as MB and Dynaudio.

You really think so? I have the Diamond HEX's, and before I bought them, I auditioned them, and thought they sounded comparable to the Dyn's and way better than the quarts.

I have to stand up for my Diamond Hex's as well...They are ok???
Obviously you haven't heard my buddy's Chevy Z71 Truck featuring all Diamond Hardware. 6 - 5 1/4 - Tweet Three Way, and a Mac Sub. Sound Stage is nice high and wide, and imaging...oh my god. We had a couple of guys listen to it at a sound - off... We have a stuffed "Aflac" duck, that we put on the dashboard in the center. They started looking under it for a center chanel, and dug around under the back seat to find a time/phase alignment processor. Keep in mind he only had Speakers (in Qlogic Kicks and Stock location), Amps, Passive Xovers, and a cheapy' 20 band EQ. A good install makes all the difference. I can't wait till' he gets his New Diamond Amps in (part of the final install), and the 30 band EQ.
But than again to each his own...it all has to do what your percieve as good...speakers have there own unique characteristics that are going to vary from car to car, and from install to install.

I would say for sq, the rating would be as follows for top three, three-way components:

1. Dynaudio ($1300)
2/3 CDT($600) or Focal($1400)

The CDT and Focal are very close...and almost impossible to tell the difference unless you have a super high-end setup...(eg nak cd700, Zap comps,...etc) then the focal system edges the CDT. But then there is the price difference, for a GP price of 480 +shipping for five people..I think we could all make out like bandits on these kick ass components....Again find a dealer of CDT in your local area and listen to them...if you think I am bullshitting then reply to the thread...If you listen to them and love them...then email me! And please leave out the "great-marketed midrange component-mbquarts" and I have listened to the Diamond and they are also in the midrange category..again it depends on what you like...big-boom or pure sound quality.

Anyone know where to get the Dynaudio 340 7" Component set for less than $780?

How many people can you really expect to GP on Dyn's?

Incidentally, when you quote 5 purchases, you mean 10 total sets of 3-ways, right?

Ask your source how much he wants for two sets of 340's, shipped to NYC.

I'm building a setup for my friend's S-class and figured it'd make a neat test mule in case I want to upgrade =P

He can do $1770 plus shipping..but usually he goes a lot lower when there is more involved...try going for CDT..way better in price range and completely worth your money...

I'm not saying Diamond's are Better than CDT, or Dynaudio...I'm just saying they are an excellent speaker (much better than ok). I am now dieing to here these CDT's to find out what all the "hype" is about...the problem is I don't think any of my local shops cary them. If you want to send me a free sample to audition them in my car I wouldn't mind. ;)

Speakers are totally subjective; what sounds good to you may not sound good to me. For ME, Dyn's are too mellow and MB-Quart are way too bright. The Utopia's are my favorite. My 165K2's were a little bright without the EQ. I'd love to try CD-Tech but they don't have a dealer in LA/OC!!! Closest place is in Thousand Oaks.
CD-Tech speakers are highkly regarded and considered to be up there with Dyn, a/d/s and Focal.
Try Oz speakers, less expensive and sound great.
