Alrite, so i love having a clean car, who doesnt? Everytime i wash the car i take my time, clean everything. But in the end i look closely at the paint and have swirls in it. I wax it every once in a while, but that doesnt do too much either. I would like to know if theres any way of getting rid of the swirls without going out and buying a buffer? Is there a special type of wax or buffing cloth and or procedure that i should use? thanks.

If the swirls are bad or you want to do a good job you need a buffer. You will only hide the swirls if you do it by hand.

if the swirls aren't too deep, meguiars scratch x will more than likely take them out for you. just make sure you protect the paint after using it cuz it will more than likely take the wax off. http://www.meguiars.com/?auto-paint-cleaners/ScratchX
you can pick some up at walmart or target for like 6 or 7$$$. this would be your best bet for now unless you want to buy a buffer. and even if you get a buffer use it with scratch x.

A polish, and either a rotary or a random orbital.

It would take at least 12 hours or elbow grease to do a whole car with ScratchX, Time is money in our world, get a polisher and a good polish and get it done in 4-5 hrs

+1. ScratchX took forever by hand. Get a polisher like a porter cable 7424. I used lake country pad: orange, yellow, white and black pad. For polishes: Menzerna Sip follow up by Menzerna NP and klasse sg. Works pretty good.

This is from autopia.
It looks like it cost a lot but if you will detail just one car, it pays for itself.

In all practicality, if you don't want to spring for a buffer, you're going to have to fill in the swirls with a glaze or use a carnauba with lots of fillers. Glazes like carnauba are only a temporary fix, eventually the glaze will disappear and the swirls will be visible again.
If you want to try the glaze route, put on a couple of layers then top with a wax or sealant.
