BlueSteele 03-26-2008, 11:06 PM yea i figured, just had some high hopes i guess, small price to pay for great break performance raceyBMW 03-27-2008, 12:37 AM Softer brake pads = better stopping potential = more brake dust. Just throw some wheel wax on the wheels, and it will make them much easier to clean. Troika 03-27-2008, 02:53 AM All BMWs do, no exception. Not only BMWs all German cars seem to have a lot of brake dust. Had that with Audi, VW, and the BMW. The only car that didnt seem like it had brake dust or had little of was a Honda that I had. Blue330i2006 03-27-2008, 06:59 AM I can live with a little dust when the stop pedal works as well as it does. I love the brakes. mryakan 03-27-2008, 12:16 PM I can live with a little dust when the stop pedal works as well as it does. I love the brakes. +1, and it is not so bad on some wheels if you don't let it sit forever. I used to be able to wipe them off with a dry cloth on the wheel on my e36. Same with this car although a bit more work to get to them off the creases. Dingers328 03-27-2008, 02:15 PM My 1980 320i had carbon brake pads and cleaning wasn't much fun. The dealer mentioned that over the last 28 years, BMW has tried other composite pads and again returned to carbon pads recently. I purchased the BMW wheel cleaner. It's still a chore to clean after a couple of weeks of driving. Blue330i2006 03-27-2008, 02:18 PM +1, and it is not so bad on some wheels if you don't let it sit forever. I really haven't seen a problem cleaning the wheels with NOS pads. 3rd set, 33k miles. yes she is driven hard in the twisties. But MrYakan is correct. let it sit after the weekend of brutality til say Wednesday, you will be working, cleaning them. My $.02 stejus 03-31-2008, 07:44 PM I put three layers of Zaino on my new wheels the day after i purchased it. Every two or three days i take a California Duster (small one for dash) and wipe off the dust. The secret is having a wheel wax or Zaino to keep the dust from getting under the clear coat. x986 04-03-2008, 03:03 PM I changed the pads to Axxis & used Rejex. Very happy. Recommend a sealant such as Rejax, Klasse over any wax product. GreenThree 04-03-2008, 03:07 PM So I should use wheel wax, instead of wheel spray? What are recommended wheel wax brands that people are using and how much? My A4 was brutal with brake dust. Just got my e90 on Tues, and the dust is already building :( raceyBMW 04-03-2008, 05:16 PM poorboy wheel sealant, which you can get from autogeek. carfenattic 04-04-2008, 01:17 AM Hey Guys, The best brake dust cleaner that I found is Brown Royal wheel cleaner. Its strong, safe on the clearcoat and I dont have to scrub my wheels. The best thing is that its real cheap 15 bucks a gallon. You can buy it online. Take care. Joe allerac 04-04-2008, 02:32 AM i just go with hawk pads, great stopping power and literally no dust, they are awesome jokermoe 04-14-2008, 07:31 AM ok. now were on my pet peeve of the week. i've used mintex pads on my bmw and had minimal dust. the local euro parts guy talked me into Ate pads. Huge mistake. nothing but dust alot of it and the stopping power is not as good as mintex. After a hard couple of months where i couldn't wash the car often because of the cold/snow I just spent 2 hrs. removing the wheels . Then using a tooth brush and polishing compound to get the stains off of my factory painted wheels. grahamggg 04-17-2008, 12:07 AM ok. now were on my pet peeve of the week. i've used mintex pads on my bmw and had minimal dust. the local euro parts guy talked me into Ate pads. Worst wheels I have ever worked on, these things were horrible. Brake dust had litterally been baked onto the wheels.. |
