Alright, I just got a PC as a gift. I am going to detail my car with medium to heavy swirls. With all of the experience here I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction on what type of polish to get.
I looked at the Menzerna Intensive Polish and Final Polish kit. Also looked at Pinnacle Twins (Advanced Finishing Polish and Advanced Swirl Remover). All the #s Meguiars uses confuses me, so I wouldn't even know where to start.
I am new to this, hope you guys can give me some suggestions on what to use.

If you have the money, go with Menzerna. Greatest polishes I've been using with my PC.

I use the Menzerna Super Intensive Polish with Menzerna Nano Polish right behind it. Couldn't be any happier.............

1. The Edge Pads. Best money spent for detailing yet.
2. I use Poorboy's and Menzerna. Each have their strong points, depending on what you're using them for.

Hey Gents

I am getting ready to detail my 2002 dark blue M3. I have Menzerna IP and NP, Klasse AIO and Poorboys Natty's Blue Paste wax. Which pads would you guys recommend?

Thanks

The brand I recommend would be The Edge. www.edgepads.com (http://www.edgepads.com)
For the Menz - I recommend either Green or Blue depending on how the paint is. Blue for the Klasse, and White for the Natty's Blue.

I would use Ip with orange or yellow pad. Nano polish with white pad and the wax with a gray pad

Are you talking about Edge pads also?

Thanks for your resonses guys. I have never used a buffer on my car and am a little nervous about screwing it up.

That's one of the best parts about using a PC. They are pretty much idiot-proof.

I meant lake country pads. I doubt you will screw up your paint with a pc unless you are at a high speed and left it in the same spot for very long time.

Blue CCS 5.5" pads (http://www.autogeek.net/ccs-5-5inch-foam-buffing-pads.html) for applying wax
Lambswool 6" pad (http://www.autogeek.net/lc77216.html) + Micro fiber bonnets (http://www.autogeek.net/microfiber-bonnet.html) for buffing wax
Hook & Loop backing plate 5" (http://www.autogeek.net/lc43125.html)

I have Meguiars NXT wax that I am planning to use.
Also I have some Klasse Sealant Glaze that I plan to use.

Am I missing anything? I clayed the car last fall just before I put it in storage... should I bother to clay it again?

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

if it was in storage there is no real way for the paint to obtain contaminants so it would just be a waste of time to clay. as long as the paint feels smooth, you should be good.

i believe you say your car was medium to heavy swirls, yellow pad would help with the heavy swirls. But try the orange pads first before yellow.

Make sure you use the SIP with the white pad first. It can get a lot of defects oout, if it doesnt, then bump up to the orange, the more clear you save the better
