Splash Cafe, either in SLO or in Pismo. Best clam chowder ever though. Firestones in SLO also has the best tritip sandwiches...haha. Other than that, enjoy the excellent weather.

Another for the Firestone tri-tip sandwich. It's always pretty packed with the Cal Poly kids but the line doesn't really take as long as it looks. Downtown is pretty nice...I stayed in Avila last time I went down. There's the Pismo outlets a few exits south on 101...

I live here, so I can give you the scoop.
- Beaches are packed with Bakersfield people.
- Firestone DOES have the best tri-tip sandwich on earth
- Splash Cafe has good clam chowder, but Fat Cat's in Port San Luis is Better
- Downtown SLO can be entertaining, but its also packed with Bakersfield people.
- Secret beach? No, Bakersfield people will find you.

In town there's Woodstocks if you like pizza. A good coastal drive is to Morro Bay. There's a couple seafood locations near the Morro boardwalk. Also the drive from Morro to Avila is a good drive.

+1 on everything except the tri-tip sandwich part. 234823428941982314 different corner BBQs in Santa Maria will beat Firestones. Is it worth the trip to SM? Thats another story....
