I am trying to figure out how to remove a scratch that some POS out there did to my driver's side door... it doesn't look that bad but it is visible from a mile away...

Description:

- White (looks like it is smudged)
- Really tiny but sticks out way too much
- The left part is really white and moving to the right is a mix of white and the BG behind it...

Can this be removed easily or...

:help

It would be easier if you do this with a polishing machine, but its possible to get the sand scratches out by hand.

Prety simple, Soak the sand paper for a few hours in water, put water on the car, sand down the scratch until you cant see it any longer, usually ten crosses but sometimes more for deep scratches, . This use the polish this comes with.

Try Meguiar's ScratchX first.

I'd say start with a medium-cut polish, and if that doesn't work, move to a heavier cut. Always start out with the lightest polish you can, and if it doesn't work, then move to a heavier polish. Color/wetsanding should be a last resort.

If it is a scratch worth making a thread over it will require compounding and wetsanding, and if hes asking how to remove it the safest thing to do is wetsand

Scratch x removes swirls, nothing more

Looks more like a door ding then a scratch. I bet that is all the way through the clear coat.

You might try touch-up paint. Or get that whole door repainted............

Actually there isn't a dent... it's just flat on the paint so I am a little confused on what actions to take with it... it just looks as if someone took white-out and smeared it on the door.

Try wetsanding first and to no avail, go with touch up paint then wetsand again then polish

From the description and pictures it looks like there may have just been some paint transfer in which case i would think some polishing should get it out, but the pictures aren't that clear so i could be wrong.

That definitely just looks like paint transfer. All you would need is a good compound/polish. Back in the day I actually removed several spots like that from my old 325 using Meguires Cleaner wax - decent stuff for that type of job and readily available.

if it catches your nail as you run over it, it won't come out.

Tried and it didn't catch my nail... just went through it smoothly.

The claybar did it... it's all gone... and yeah I know it took my lazy ass a while to do this but I'm glad it's off.
