my 535is won't start. it'll turn over but won't fire. this began last wk. started one day, next day no start, started the following day and now nothing. i don't want to run down the battery. i'm thinking it's either fuel or electrical. boy genius here.
i disconnected the hose to the fuel pressure regulator to see if it was working. gas spewed all over the place. i guess next is to check the plugs for spark.
any other ideas would be deeply appreciated.
thanks!

First check, clean (or replace), retension the little clips and reseat the fuses. Pay attention to the fuel pump fuse.
Clean and check ALL the ground points in the engine bay.
You may have fuel pressure, but is it the correct pressure?
Check for spark.
Check, clean and reseat the fuel and main relays.
Report back.
When was the last tuneup done and what was replaced?

well...i went out to do the suggested clean up/inspection on various parts and decided to try to start the car and bingo, it started right up. drove it around the block, shut it off, started it a couple more times with no issues. we had rain about 3 wks ago so i'm thinking something may have been damp. will take the time to clean. sure is a big difference driving this car compared to my commuter, a '00 integra. so much smoother.
