When I got her all of the chrome had been painted black and the side mirrors especially were chipping away, the chrome around the taillights and the antenna had been wrapped in electrical tape. The house for the back license plate was also painted black. Factory or not, most likely not, I didn't like it.
Luckily at the time I worked at a car lot and had many cosmetic tools available to work with, a few careful hours of lacquer thinner and scrubbing got her back to shining chrome.
I just can't figure out the wheels and the bumpers, there is some sort of discoloration on them. Like a sort of fading.
Most of the mechanical repairs I have posted.
Here's my first car ever:
1983 633CSi (This one I named Kit because of the way the instrument panel lights would flicker)

That's also me two years ago...
82bmw633 03-24-2008, 08:46 PM Are those Fittipaldi wheels? I've got 16" 1-pc Fittipaldi's on my '82 633. Always liked the 5-spoke designs. Got mine for free so that was even better!:redspot
jeffcfp1 03-24-2008, 08:58 PM Nice car. At some point I'll find a similar red one to make my wife extra happy, just not many with a paint job that has held up. Take good care of her...
Ol'6erGuy 03-25-2008, 12:01 AM I like it!! We are going to have to have our own little Washington meet this summer. You and a couple of other westsiders, the Spokane folks and me in the middle---almost sounds like an E-burg thing.
amibuggnu 03-25-2008, 06:32 AM Sure looks good MrMickey,
Is that pinstripe blue? It looks like it adds a good contrast against the red body, sets off well with the roundel. Can you give us a shot of the whole car!?
MrMickey 04-03-2008, 02:33 AM I found a picture of my car from when it had the black paint on it.

This was about prom time almost a year ago, so that explains the obvious.
I'll try to snag some less artistic attempted photos tomorrow, if'n it's sunny.
Lsixer 04-03-2008, 12:24 PM Beautiful girl and car ... I dont even want to know whats up with the ordinance. http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w245/lsixer/shakehead-1.gif
M6csi 04-03-2008, 03:33 PM Nice looking rehead. FYI, all the bright trims are in anodized (amazingly hard coated finish) aluminum, there is no chrome period. In order to polish the aluminum bumper, the hard anodized coating has to be removed (easy off oven cleaner works, I've heard), then proceed to polishing and reanodize or clearcoat to avoid oxidation and constant repolishing.

Fittipaldi they are, the PO put them on, I have pictures of the stock rims that were on it laying around somewhere. I think in the glovebox.

Just let me know when and I'll definitely make my best effort to be there. I haven't ever really explored Ellensburg much so I'd love to see the roads out there.
Pin stripe is blue and kind of a dark purple...

Driver's side seat is bent. I've tried prying it with a bit flathead to straighten it a bit, but nothing...

MrMickey 04-03-2008, 03:44 PM Also, I've been thinking about getting red BMW roundels for the hood (well, right in front of the hood) and trunk. But I've been thinking that it may be just too much red if I do that. The pinstripes wouldn't be able to offset the red enough you think...?
EDIT: Also, M6csi answered my question about the wheels and bumpers while I was posting the pics up...
M6csi 04-03-2008, 05:17 PM Correction on the chrome on the 6 series, the Euro Sixes had the pretty chromed bumpers and most of the cars came with chromed side mirrors until the changeover to the body colored mirrors of the later cars. On your wheels, probably the clearcoat has come off on your wheel center or it could be a badly oxidized non-finished bare aluminum.
All metal is an a big hurry to get back to its momma.
Nice looking car.
rodger 04-04-2008, 12:03 AM first of all...very nice car, every time i see pictures like these, it makes me ashamed at how I have neglected mine. secondly...prom with a gun?maybe i'm missing something

We kind of had a gangster theme going on. I find the Italian Mafia very... interesting. I'd join if I could.
I especially loved my suit
this also shows the chipping paint on the side mirrors.

Bluesman 04-05-2008, 08:49 PM I just thought the girl in the pic was to protect your car from deer running in the road, it happens all the time in washington. Growing up in lakewood many a friend lost their cars to critters running across the hiway. Trust me if you hit a deer at speed you will know it BMW or not.
MrMickey 04-06-2008, 12:49 AM Oh god yes. I decided to go driving on Whidbey Island and almost hit a deer or two.
I stopped speeding after the first one.
amibuggnu 04-07-2008, 03:58 AM Thanks for the extra pics, car looks good, I like a black interior.
As for the red roundel, its something I wouldn't do, but they're a fairly inexpensive item and a pretty easily reversible mod. Why don't you just get some, try them out, if you don't like it you can easily switch back to the originals.
