I have been having problems with rough idle and intermitent stalling. Everything points to amf, does anyone knowif his unit can be rebuilt or is it just a replacement part. If it can be rebuilt please list where I may order parts or rebuild kit from. Thanks, dmc.

I've got a couple good used ones if you'd like one on the cheap, but if you've got your heart set on a new/reman I'd check out BMAparts.com

did u try cleaning ur MAF ?

He's got a VAF if it's a 1989. Big barn door.

yes he does have the door flap, but theres a little sensor inside it. i cleaned mine and its a lil better.

no i havent tried cleaning the sensor or taking it apart yet. will try cleaning and see if that helps. problem is i am gone all week and this is wifes car.

well yesterday i dove into it again and i did clean sensor. i did however take it one step further as i felt that the maf was the true culprit here. i went ahead and removed the lower cover of the maf as my readings on this, when checked showed not so much a dead spot but the resistance when door opened failed to change about 1/2 way through test. i found, inside a slide type pot. i then cleaned pot and adjusted pressure on same via bending contact to insure a more positive connection.
drove car last night and yesterday eve. put approx. 75 miles on vehicle. had no problems at all. seems to have taken care problem. if same situation reoccurs, will let everyone know, until then thanks for the advise and everyone keep posting as the more we discuss these problems the more we help each other. we are in this together.
