View Full Version : Anyone a member of the BMWCCA?
bmwpower 03-23-2008, 12:43 AM I just celebrated my 10 year anniversary in October and they gave me a special little pin....yea!
Anyone else in the CCA?
Curious to see how many E34 guys are members....
Pict pin...
attack eagle 03-23-2008, 12:45 AM no I, no chapter here.
Binjammin 03-23-2008, 01:16 AM To be honest, I never really gave a crap about BMWs one way or the other until I picked up the e34. Never knew about CCA, BF.c, or any other of a host of different organizations or clubs. I bought the car for cheap, fixed it on the cheap, and am upgrading it on the cheap. I recently found out how little it costs to be a member, and the benefits seem like it's worthwhile, but I usually don't pay to join clubs. I've got enough friends and skills to get by without it.
I don't need to spend money to get a #, a magazine, and a pin to hang out with BMW owners to find out how cool I am.
Louiseven 03-23-2008, 01:18 AM Member, I just joined last December. I really like the Roundel magazine and I am looking forward to the events coming up for the LA Chapter.

lol I know there was a reason we got along.
MaloventEvil 03-23-2008, 05:26 AM i love roundel, that alone is worth the price (plus all the driving clinics & track days!)
HausBimmer 03-23-2008, 09:13 AM 20% discount on parts (with 7 cars, this pays back this annual dues every month)
monthly magazine with pictures of BMWs
monthly meetings with other BMW crazies
who woudn't want to join?
e34bmw540i 03-23-2008, 09:43 AM I am, I love the magazine and the cool little sticker they give you for your window haha.
I am a member as well. The magazine and discounts for track days makes it worth it.
e24mpwr 03-23-2008, 10:30 AM I have my 5-year pin, and it has been easily worth it. Love the mag and the discounts were worth it before I started my own BMW parts business.
I've met a lot of interesting folks locally through the BMW CCA, too...

I have been a member for 9 years.
If you ever wanted to drive you BMW on some of the best tracks in the world (Mazda/Laguna Seca, Infineon/Sears Point, etc.) you won't find a better bargain than their driving schools.
If you ever buy a new Bimmer, the loyalty rebate ($500 to $1500 depending on the model) makes the annual fee a no brainer. Make sure you have been a member in good standing for at least a year before you buy!
The discounts at the dealership (20% for mine) also make it worthwhile. Our chapter, the Golden Gate Chapter, has half a dozen driving tours every year. The volunteers at Autocross and other events are real enthusiasts, and a real nice bunch of folks.
The club magazine, Roundel, is excellent, and the local chapters have newsletters too. Plus, if you like to write, they are usually looking for articles. Check out my article about a driving tour on page 14 of the Nov/Dec "Die Flüsternde Bombe" (http://www.ggcbmwcca.org/download/bombe/bombe07novdec.pdf). (I'm the big guy in the back.)
E34nication 03-23-2008, 11:29 AM hmm... I think my membership expired... I haven't been getting my Roundels... have to check on that.

Unless that's a discount off BMA's prices, it's pretty irrelevant. I get my parts at cost anyway, so unless that's 20 off my cost, I don't need it.

Never driven on a track, and until recently I never cared to. I've got a love of back roads, and know some really nice drives. I suppose the track time would be the only reason I'd consider it, but I wouldn't call it a huge draw.
bmw327 03-23-2008, 12:55 PM For cars as common as these I don't see the point, however for relatively rare, little known, or under appreciated cars, clubs can be a real help.
CleanE34 03-23-2008, 01:08 PM maybe i might join. the dealers here are kinda expensive when it comes to OEM parts. 8 freaking dollars for a clip.... anyways, maybe. from what all the members say about it, it really sounds like a good deal.

i joined for the bmwcca auto-x/driver school discounts.
2DYE4 03-23-2008, 02:44 PM Sacramento Chapter...congrats on the 10 year stay
mottati 03-23-2008, 04:57 PM golden gate chapter here, 13 years, hmm, i didn't get no pin...
Have gotten back about $2k on member loyalty rebates on car purchases, so yeah, it's worth the $40 bucks a year or so, not to mention all of the other stuff (track days etc);.

I can get you good prices on pretty much any parts. My best pricing comes on accessories (everything from hats to wheels), but I'd be happy to help. My business partner Nat has had several E34's and knows his way around very wall. Check us out at www.atlantic-euro.com. Frankly, any bigger business is likely to be faster (we don't carry inventory of very many things), but we try to be competitive.
Anyway, back OT, I really like the Roundel magazine - it is a lot of fun, has interesting writers and covers the BMW waterfront reasonably well. Their E34 coverage is probably a little lacking.
glwillia 03-23-2008, 09:31 PM I'm a member (353833), have been since August 2005. Love the monthly meetings, the Roundel, and my local chapter (Buckeye Chapter) has a few other E34 guys.
kesslerbmw 03-23-2008, 11:02 PM Im a member and also a Board Member for the Kansas City chapter.
525fourthew1n 03-23-2008, 11:59 PM 4500RPM is a member, and I'm proud to say that I will be soon!
I'm really excited because the Tar Heel chapter has a lot of meets and events at VIR
:buttrock
ThoreauHD 03-24-2008, 12:16 AM I joined the bmwcca a few years back, when I first bought my car. The discounts help but more than that you find good indy mechanics in the local chapter newsletter that you wouldn't have noticed otherwise. The roundel mag is also a nice plus. It really helps if you have to bring it into the stealership. Almost makes pricing seem normal.

Yup, I'm proud to be a Peachtree Chapter member. Unfortunately I'm in Atlanta for about two weeks in the entire year but oh well. Roundel is worthy bathroom reading so it's worth the $40. I love my CCA sticker as well.
This reminds me, I've got to renew membership in May.
slocar 03-24-2008, 01:07 AM Not a member; never been a fan of paying a fee to join a club. Bf.c is enough for me.
croatan 03-24-2008, 09:43 AM I've been a member for three years. My local chapter (Tidewater Chapter) is a 2 hr. drive from here so I'm not active in local events. I do enjoy the Roundel magazine even the letters from the enviromental pu##ys that piss me off.
