View Full Version : Interest in a 90 535i?
Alpine535i 03-22-2008, 07:47 PM Just checking for interest in my 1990 535i. Alpine with black interior. 159,??? miles, Auto, shifts great (original tranny). I have all receipts since new! This year alone close to $4,000 in maintenance (that is not including the wheels, euro trim, m5 filler plate, and recent front end plastic additions). Two sets of wheels, stock with new Kumho ASX's, and the current set of recently refinished (June 07) style 5's with Kumho tires (75% tread left). Oil changed religously at 3,500 miles. Just about everything that needs to be done or replaced has been. There is normal wear and tear on this 18 year old car, two small dings on the hood (could be PDR'd out) and normal small scratches all around, a few small stone chips in the grill surround, nothing too visible if your not looking for it. I am being honest. The interior is in great condition, no rips or tears, matching CoCo floor mats.
I commute 500 miles a week and just need something with a 5 spd and much better gas mileage, I average 17 mpg on the highway with the 535. If it helps I am a member of BMWCCA, member #385986. There is way too much to list that has been replaced. If your interested PM me and I'll put together a list as well as tons of pictures. My email is dancherrman@yahoo.com
It sucks having to do this because it is a beautiful car and a true blast to drive. I truly love this car, but as many of you know commuting is not a friend of enthusiasts. A couple of the most recent pics below. I was thinking of starting around $5,800 with the style 5's and $5000 without them, this of course is OBO. It may be on the high end but the receipts of maintenance will show it is worth it. Thanks all.

Thanks again.
hey808 03-22-2008, 09:11 PM Can you post pics of the interior and engine bay? Is there any rust? What kind of maintainance was done this past year? Any known issues with the car? Thanks!
Weird, no fog lights. I though all E34 had fogs...
Alpine535i 03-23-2008, 04:25 PM I deleted the fogs with OEM deletes, the car comes with the OE Hella foglights.
In brief, this year:
Maintenance:
Valve adjustment (new valve cover gasket obviously included)
Upper control arms
Lower control arms
Sway-bar links
A/T Fluid/filter change
Tie-Rod ends
(2x) air filter
(2x) sets of tires
fuel filter
spark plugs
water-pump
thermostat
thermostat housing
all Powersteering lines
coolant elbow hose
oil pan gasket
(as stated) 3,500 mile oil change intervals
Bosch alternator (new not a reman)
new emblems
New calipers all around
new rear pads
new rear rotors
(2x) front pads
new front rotors
front brake lines
Cosmetically:
M5 plate delete
Euro trim
fog light deletes
front plate delete
new center bumper trim
new lower door trim (drivers side)
Mid door trim (front panels)
(2x) Professional details at Goods Auto (amazing)
car washed once a week
wheels washed twice a week (anal but it was relaxing)
I'm sure there are a few more things. The car has been garaged its whole life. I put 23,000 miles on the car this year so obviously it is all highway miles. It comes with a built in radar detector from the dealer. I will be getting the pin strip redone in the next 2 weeks. Shew, there is always more but I love this car and spared no expense! Pics of interior and engine bay up very soon. Thanks.
hey808 03-23-2008, 08:02 PM Any rust forming anywhere? Bottom of the doors, frame rails, trunk lid by license plate lights?
Alpine535i 03-24-2008, 04:04 PM There is a small bit of rust behind the stone guard on the drivers side front fender, there is not rust showing just bubbles behind the paint. That is the only rust on the whole car. Interior and engine bay pics up tonight, sorry for the delay.
A couple more things to add to the list:
-IAC Valve
-Brake light switch
-OEM Tips
-WIndshield wipers/brackets
-Steering knuckle (done on saturday)
-Bosch Battery
Sunroof works perfect as well. I just put $660 in it on Saturday for the steering knuckle, tie-rod ends, brake light switch and a few odds and ends. Thanks for looking.
