I have for sale replacement Vader backrest leather in black. This is just one backrest, for a single seat, PN-52102269108. The leather is brand new, still in the plastic, and smells and feels exactly like new leather should. I bought this with the intentions of buying all new leather, one piece at a time, to eventually re-do my interior, but my plans have changed. The only internet BMW vendor that I've found to have this is Pelican Parts, where it's $541.50 + shipping, and is a special order/non-returnable item. Realoem has the price listed as $528.98. I would like $250 + shipping, or possibly trade for suspension upgrade parts for my '98 M3. I cannot post pictures yet, but would be more than happy to email them to anyone who's interested. Yes it is Nappa; yours were probably just abused or left out in the sun. Nappa does not age well with abuse; especially since it's stretched to fit leather.
