I was haveing an 95 e38 740i with 186,000k inspected and the mechanic said that there were 3 codes that where tripped. trans, TPS, and low voltage airabag. He says he can't find anything wrong with them at all.
the previous owner said that he had discounted the battery and such while testing and removing the nav system from the car. that must be what through the codes. Truthful or even possible?

its prolly ur Alternator.......dying...it throws alot of codes...like what happen to me ....my dash lit up like a XMAS tree..dcs, abs, and the dreded transfail safe mode lights came on....at least u dont have the water cooled alty ...mine ran me $800.00 plus...on ur 1995 it should only be $100.00 and to have it installed ?....should be low but 1st check the alternator

I would check battery first...make sure it is throwing out enough voltage...then I would look at the ignition switch in the steering column. These are the cheapest things to check before the more expensive stuff.

Just changed out engine and trans into a 1995 740. Car is throwing out massive number of messages on checking lights but the lights are all working. I guess I will need to take this car to the dealer to get it reset? Is there anything that can be done before hand to make sure false messages don't come up after changing parts?
