this is for a 90% track car driven to and from tracks. What kind of front and rear camber, caster and toe is the best for a e36. I have adjustable plates and arms.

View Full Version : e36 track ca alignment settings?? s14realm3 03-20-2008, 11:33 AM this is for a 90% track car driven to and from tracks. Use that much. :D Seriously, its hard to run too much negative camber in the front, at the track, for a BMW McStrut front suspension. But remember that with a big camber change from street to track alignments the toe will change... that's not necessarily a bad thing, though. Have your front set with max negative camber (-3.5° is usually a good target, and it helps to use more if you are making a lot of grip) and about 1/8" of total toe out up front .... and when you slide your plates to their full positive setting for the drive home, the front should go to zero toe or just a tick of toe in, which is great for the street. The rear camber should be around -2 to -2.5°, or about 1 degree less than the front. Toe in the rear 1/4" total and it works wonders for corner exit. (edit: you need to add more cars to your sig...) I've set mine at 3.6 negative front (max using Spec E36 plates) and 2.5 rear (stock arms) with .2 toe out front and .1 toe in rear, IIRC. Caster is maxed at 6.5 L&R using Powerflex/Turner offset LCA bushings. Nice balance at RA with RA-1s and great rotation on the rear. Just be careful of that inner edge wear on the front tires! JClark 03-20-2008, 01:39 PM I didnt notice a handling difference between using 1/16-1/8 toe out in the front compared to zero, but I did notice a big time tire wear difference. I now leave front toe at 0. Turn in is about the same and wear is much improved. Just my experience. Big down time between run sessions means I'm playing with the toe plates and camber gauge. |
