Hey,
My buddy introduced me to the Bimmer community not too long ago and now I'm lined up to make my first purchase of a black 1985 535i. My buddy has checked it out already and I'm heading over this weekend to scope it out. I was wondering if anyone had any tips of what to look / ask for specifically about these cars. Like I said I'm really new to this and am looking to get out of my Nissan 200sx SE-R and into something a little more mature. Thanks

stay away from ceramic type bullet fused cars, like the e28.

It is the worse fuses ever and you will battle elect. gremlins the remander of the life of the car, trust me.

im the buddy he speaks of. Funny you mention the fuse box bavauto. That is always one thing to worry about with these cars for sure. When i looked at the car, i noticed the box looked brand new! The seller (who had worked for BMW dealers for 4 years) said that the box was tampered with when he bought it. He was nervous about it, and took the car to a BOSCH specialist in town. The guy put in a band new fuse box, all new fuses and relays, and traced all the faulty wiring out of the car. Pretty cool, and definitely a pricey job to do!

Buy it!

Also, check out Mye28.com, that is a great site to get involved with about the E28s for sure.
