ah haaaahhhhh.....you are in for some fun, my friend.

The pax side interior is fairly easy to do...the driver's side is a bit more challenging. Start with the pax side, and then, if your back still feels halfway decent, give the driver's side a shot. A tool with a hook on it will come in handy for the driver's side.

The filter material is flexible foam, and it can be washed or purchased new. The filter casing (frame) comes apart easily enough so that the filter itself can be removed and either replaced or washed.

Don't buy the under hood filters from the dealer. It's outright rape with no lubrication or kisses.

WELL WELL LOOKII HERE. Ijust did these yesterday. My adv][ce to any one for this is to do like I did. Here is how, and your back will love you for it. Just move the driver seat all the way back and lower it completely. Then grab the top o shit handle and manooover your self feet first trawrd the back glass in other words just get in the damn thing. slide yourself into position take the bottom cover off. Look up and to the left and there the filter is. Take a flat head screw driver and pop the bottom of the filter off of that little post and slide it down. Wash it with grease lightning dry it spray some vent cleaner on it and reinstall. WAAAALLLAAAAA U R DONE.

I'm average height and weight, I think, and there's no way I could have done it without my wife's help.

Seriously, if you have teenage son, or neighbor kid, that can help, hire him! And let him do it. It's not a hard job, it's just awkward unless you have short arms.

Sorry for the noob question, buy what are the little door things for on the firewall, just to the side of the filter doors under the hood?

Hmmm, not quite sure I know what you're referring to..the statment "just to the side of the filter doors" throws me off.

But if you mean the flaps that close when the hood is raised...they get pushed open by the little arms that are attached to the bottom of the hood when it closes...those are the fresh air intakes for the HVAC system. They receive the fresh air once it passes thru the two microfilters in the hood. If you start the car with the hood up...then press open one of the doors...it will become very evident that they are sucking in air. :D
