View Full Version : Inspected mine today, picking up tommorow
lambourne 03-19-2008, 01:21 PM This is my first post and just found this website.
Really excited as I got to inspect my new 135i today.
Equipped:
Titanium Silver- Boston Gray Leather
Premium
Steptronic
Comfort Access
Chrome Line Exterior
Heated Front Seats
Premium Hi-Fi System
Ipod/USB
Paying Sticker as equipped 43.0K
The weather is really bad here today and did not want to drive it in the rain and muck. I can wait a day to put it in the garage while it sits inside at the dealer.
I did start it up and the sound is very throaty and the front brakes are HUGE. From what I can tell they are six piston disc and has a large footprint with some nice BMW lettering on them.
Also, the dealer pointed out something I missed. On the start button exterior ring, around the button is inscribed, "Year One of the One"
Heading out early tomorrow morning to pick-up and will post some photos when I get a couple of minutes. This is my second BMW. I just sold my 2001 BMW 325i with only 42K on the odo last week. Was very sad to see it go as it was a wonderful car. I did find it a great home and I hope the new owners baby it like I did.
Thanks for allowing me to share my excitement about my new vehicle!
Cheers,
L

I thought that was a nice touch.. definitely something that will set the 08's apart from all the rest.

How? the one series has been in Europe since 2004...
993 911 03-19-2008, 09:14 PM exactly, in Europe, in a hatchback form.
exactly, in Europe, in a hatchback form.Which is the form I want. Hatchbacks are sexy

No matter how you slice it, its still a one series thats been out for four years. Basically contradicting "year one of the one series".
Tu0cs 03-19-2008, 11:56 PM hey, give the guy some slack, its year one of the one series in america, especially with the 135i. congrats on your new vehicle, im jealous :)

+1
NHskibm 03-20-2008, 10:10 AM as far as I know it is year one of the 128 and 135, not quite a contradiction.
europe had a 120, a 130 and some others.
etasport87 03-20-2008, 06:27 PM Could you walk into a US bmw dealer and drive away in a 1 last year? You think I dont know the 1 series has been out in europe?
lambourne 03-21-2008, 01:08 PM Sorry I don't have any photos to share. Camera issue when I got home with the car and had to leave this morning for a week away. However, the car is so much fun to drive. Having only had an E46 325 I don't have a great depth to compare the car with but it drives like a go-kart in the handling. It has a tremendous amount of torque, corners so much better than the 325 and was a blast to toss around. The sound is also nicely tuned.
One of the features that this car has that my e46 did not was a owner changeable special functions. Lights, signal, door locks etc are all controllable by the owner and does not require a technician to tweak.
Ipod interface is nice and tucks the ipod out of sight and secured. Drivers door could use a hand hold in the mid span of the armrest. In my garage and I suspect tight parking spots the hand hold does not provide optimum leverage for closing the door. I know this is a minor item but just trying to convey the likes an dislikes.
When I get home next Friday I promise to post pictures of my new toy.
Cheers,
Lambourne

anpmech 03-22-2008, 04:03 PM I looked at them today and the exhaust looks killer, the car looks way better in person that on-line or in a mag, congratulations lambourne (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/member.php?u=169466) http://images.bimmerforums.com/vb3images/statusicon/user_offline.gif on the new ride. I can't fugure out though why only the 128i verts have fog lights. I don't see them as an option anywhere.
$43k
It does have pretty much everything, but still. ... :(

The 128i's get fogs, the 135i's don't because the oil cooler is on the passenger side wheelwell behind the lower grill.
THE 135i Manual, sport, RULES:buttrock

With the 135 I am able to control if the doors lock automatically when driving above a certain speed, I can disable the auto lock or I can also set the car to lock itself when unattended for certain period of time.
You can customize how long the DRL's stay illuminated if you pull the stalk with the engine shutdown, either 30 or 90 seconds.
You can select various other features that required a technician to set in my previous model.
Sorry for not making that clearer earlier.
Cheers,
Lambourne

Car Key Memory if you are more familiar with that terminology. Before, you had to code the car with your settings using a SSS, but now you can set it in the I-drive, or gauge cluster.
