Hi everyone,

E46 330i sport package cars use 225-45 x 17 tires with 7.5" width ET 41mm wheels on the front and 245-40 x 17 tires with 8.5" width ET 50mm wheels on the rear.
To get rid of this staggered setup, can I use 225-45 x 17 tires with the 8.5" ET 50mm wheels all around? I have 4 of the 8.5" x 17 M Double Spoke 68 wheels.
Tire Rack specs for Continentals say a 225-45 can fit up to a 8.5" width wheel.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Aloha,
Rick

I would guess that the 51m offset would rub on the struts up front, you may have to get spacers.

Also, would you be running the 225's on all four corners, or just the front. If just the front, then I dont see a reason for going to a non-staggered setup.

For the m68,the rears(17x8.5) will rub on the struts.I made the mistake of eliminating the staggered setup by trading my two front wheels for two rears. It is going to be very noisy at low speed if you do it...

Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll sell my extra M68 rear wheels, 17" x 8.5" ET 50mm.

F: 225/40R18 on 18x8 +47 has about 1/2" clearance to the strut.
R: 255/35R18 on 18.8.5 +50 has 3/8" clear inside but just a little room outside

So you should be fine width wise with 225 on 17x8.5 +50. Height may come into play. I would go with 235/40 but it might need a small spacer on that rim.
