but i'm looking under my car and i really dunno where it goes...Looking at the bolt that mounts the steering box to the frame you will see a U shaped bracket. That bracket is the one that breaks at the bottom weld or at the top. I did not use the kit you purchased, but it appears that you place the red block inside the bracket and run the longer bolt up through the steering box mount. In theory, this will reinforce the bracket. I am really surprised that they did not include instructions with the kit.

Am I seeing things or is that a bolt and pipe reducer that you can buy at any hardware store for $5? Whats the deal with the steering box mounts? I haven't heard about this problem before.

Yes Layne..........that is EXACTLY what you see and has been an on/off discussion on the net boards for some time...................rocket science but it works well........

I like Ed Raether's fix much better. He also has a PDF of the fix procedure at his site. http://www.mwrench.com/ The PDF is too big to post here so you will have to download it for yourself.

It might be, but it might also be slack in the steering box itself. Mine still pops even though I did the "pipe reducer" fix long ago. On mine the mount broke and the box is worn as well.
