it just started happening and only does it every few days but occasionally when i get to about 3000rpms a little noise comes out from under the dash seems close to the guages. its like a high pitched whistle and kina grainy sounding. any idea what it could be?:confused

Well, If I had to take a SWAG* at it ...... there is a vacuum hose from the intake manifold that comes in under the driver's side kick panel and hooks up to the interior temperature sensor on the kick panel. If this hose cracked, I suppose the slit could act like a whistle??

does it sound more like static? and only in first or other gears as well

it only seems to happen to me in third and second. And when i say whistle im referring to the tone, its very high pitched sortof sounds like something coming in contact with something else, i dont think its metal to metal.

If it is only happening in 2nd and 3rd then it sure sounds like a tranny issue, maybe get someone else to drive the car while you investigate where it's coming from, hard to do while you're driving

o mine sounds like static, seems like it comes through the center vents on the dash, and only happens in first, and happens not very often. hmmm... any ideas???

i heard it again, i guess it does sound like a static sort of sound just really high pitched. only mine seems to come from behind the guages.
