Is anybody running spacers on their E39 wheels? I am somewhat reluctant to do so, but sometimes Wolfie just looks funny with the wheels not flush to the fenders.

Im not thinking its going to take much of a spacer. Id probably be fine with a 10mm. Just wondering if anyone runs spacers on their E39 wheels. Are there any issues with that because of the hub rings?

why would you need spacers? Just curious about the space your talking about. The only thing about e39 rims are the hubcentric rings required. I have e39 rims on both my sixes, the offset is correct of 20. Which e39 rims are you considering for your car?

A pretty standard E39 rim is the 2-piece Style 5 (RC090) in 8x17, offset 20mm. They indeed look a bit strange on the rear and a 20mm spacers makes it look much better.

I'm running spacers on all my BMWs if possible:
E34-540i touring with ALPINA 10x17 rear, offset 28mm, spacer 15mm
E34-535 sedan with BMW/BBS 9.5x18 rear, offset 22mm, spacer 15mm
E24-635CSi with ACS Schnitzer 8.5x17 all around, offset 13mm, spacer 20mm rear

No spacers
E24-M635CSi with 10x16, offset 20 rear
E24-635CSi, AC Schnitzer 3-piece, 11x17, offset 8mm rear

This picture kinda explains it.

My car is the closest with E39 Type 32's with no spacers. The car next to me has rondell wheels.

Notice that the wheel on the car next to me. The face of the wheel is closer to the edge of the fender flare.

Look at mine, almost looks like the wheel is some what sunk into the fender well compared to his.

ive been thinking about putting on some 5-10mm spacers as well...

i was wondering though. you have to get longer lugs when you do this correct?

these Rondell rims are 8.5x17 with an offset of 13mm and that makes the difference (and the nice deep lip).

for standard spacers you indeed need longer studs. But there are also spacers available that mount to the hub with special short headed screws and the rims itself mounts to separate threaded holes in the spacer. Normally you find this version if you go beyond 15 to 20mm.

Jeff, Wolfie looks good like that, IMHO. I would think the car next to you must be sprung awful stiff to keep from scrubbing those fenders. damn shame about those massive bumpers, especially that corner pc. Isn't there a way to ditch that?
