Going to change my diff fluid this Friday. Getting some slight diff grind and want to put in the updated diff fluid with FM booster. Would rather DIY than pay the stealer to do it.

might have to do that! Car doesn't come with a stock jack tho :( if all else fails, will just have to use the 2 x 4s again.

Are you trying to jack it up fron the side first? you should still be able to get a jack under your stock rear subframe and raise it that way.

I'm actually trying to jack up from the rear center jack point that sits in front of the differential. It shoudl work out with a couple 2x4s

ya ya I know. Everytime I get done working on my car, I think to myself. "Damn, I need a low profile jack!" Then I think, well i'm done working on it now. I'll just wait till next time. I might just go to Costco and pick up the aluminum low pro one they have there. Looked decent and i think it was under a $100 and comes with jack stands.

yup, but when you jack up a car, you aren't supporting 100% of the car's weight on the jack. Maybe 1/2 - 2/3 the weight depending on how far you lift the car.

I weighed in my E36 at 3375 at a weigh station in West Seattle, but curb weight is closer to about 3175.

Spend more and get a better one...lol

I was checking out the Harbor Freight website yesterday and realized there is one over here in Bellevue, recently opened. Did a little research and found the jack that alot of people have used with minimal problems. Stopped in and they had it for $74.99 on sale :D Bought it. Jacked up the back of my mom's CLK and it lifted great. I can also get under the front jack points on my car without having to drive up on boards :D

I always jack from the frame, just curious if yours could go in far enough without having to raise the car with the stock jack first.

If it can go in far enough I might consider buying two or those things.

I can get to the center support in the rear from the back of the car.

I didn't try getting it to the rails on the front. Shouldn't be a problem using two jacks though.

I figure I can lift from the side jack point, then get my other jack to the front center support and lift from there.

getting to the rear one isnt a problem...I can even do that with my standard floor jack.

Nu uh, no stock jack. My wheel well has the M Mobility kit and the big foam insert that holds it in place. No jack.

newer bmw's, ones without spare tires, don't come with jacks. bmw's mentality is "the only reason the customer should jack his car up is to change his tire" but if you have no tire to change, then you don't need a jack :shifty. god forbid someone that owns a bmw knows a little diy.

You beat me to it! I don't trust that stock jack anyways! I do have an OEM lug wrench taken from my Ex E36 though :D
