Hi,
Im Andrew, im 17 and I just bought my first car which is an e28. To be more exact it is a 1985 535i, white with tan leather interior, with about 130,000 miles. Ive had it now for about 3 weeks or there about. A few days ago it just stalled at a light, now, i thought, well maybe i just left it in gear and wasnt thinking about it, but i hadnt. Then later that day, i was stopped somewhere else and it did the same thing, also the back rear window broke that day. Anyways, i ended up just taking it back to the dealer i bought it at and they fixed it, it was a faulty fuel pressure regulator. Now, just to give you some back ground, right now my dad and i are restoring a 1960 Austin Healey (not like concourse, but hes had it stored since the 80's and i forced him to take it out so we can work on it) so i have some, although limited, ability with working on cars. I guess my question is, how difficult are these cars to work on. Because, i was charged 330, and 30 of that was for parts and i feel like i would have been able to do the repair. But beside all of that, im loving driving it around all the time, its a blast. Thanks, Andrew

The BMW should only be slightly more difficult to work on compared to the Healey. Replacement parts are usually pretty cheap. The trick is in the diagnosis, and that's what this board and mye28.com are good for. Do a thorough search and I bet any problem you come across has been dealt with and someone has written a FAQ about how to fix it.
Good luck!
