"Driving club's outing urns into fatal accident
EATONVILLE — A 26-year-old Puyallup man died yesterday in a car accident, apparently while preparing to videotape himself and his friends driving at aggressive speeds down a hill east of Eatonville.
The incident occurred about 1:15 p.m. on northbound State Route 7 at milepost 24. The man, Adam M. Roberts, a reserve military police officer at McChord Air Force Base, had mounted a camcorder on the inside of the right rear window of his Honda Civic. Several of his friends, also military police officers, were waiting at the bottom of the hill.
State Patrol Trooper Johnny Alexander said Roberts began a test run, in preparation for trailing his friends down the hill. He lost control at a turn and crashed into a pickup truck heading southbound. He died at the scene.
Alexander said Roberts and his friends are part of a driving club called "Dancing Crab Racing" and had planned on putting the video on their Web site. No criminal charges are likely, Alexander said."
