Just browsing this morning for a few parts and saw this, looks legit and probably has less than 40k, if someone here has the time & funding for this into an E36 I recommend picking this engine up, buying an R154 5spd off of ebay for about $350 (plus a heavier duty 1st gear thrust washer, cheap, but prone to failure with high horsepower applications) and dumping it into something that could use a little bit more pep - I also have several schematics and diagrams of related things that will need to be modified for the E36 chassis as it pertains really closely to my 1JZ ordeal I have going on, good project engine with amazing potential for 2 grand, just throwing it out here, this is for those who have literally a tired E30 or E36 (I couldn't give advice on the E30 swap though) and want a little extra kick and a fun summer project.
It's a good local deal, if anyone on here buys this for the purpose of putting it into an E36 please PM me as I can guide you through most of the major installation procedures and outlines given to me by Nick (gentlemen from Taiwan that has a 2JZ e36) - I'd hate to see this engine go to waste by being put into a chassis inferior to the E36... which is a lot of them out there lol. :buttrock

2jz > 1jz
The 1JZ is just as capable as the 2JZ, with a 2JZ bottom end it becomes a 1.5JZ, still a 3.0L with the better flowing head design and higher rev capacity of the 1JZ.
I'm not too concerned about the displacement, a boosted six is a boosted six, it's fast regardless of the size usually - as long as it's a Toyota ;)
+1 for Toyota
-1 for Nissan. Although I still love the feeling in Mike's car when it hits boost and the tires break loose at like 60 lol.
deafboy 03-15-2008, 10:49 PM I'd rather have an LS1 actually... :paranoid:

If it came down to a choice between the Chevy and the Yota, the Chevy would win in my book as well, Vorshlag is being gay and charging too much for the kit to fit the LS1 in, not even including the cost of the engine, and I don't have the time or fabrication skills to do something so massive, especially regarding things like the exhaust headers having to be fully custom, along with the steering rack and whatnot... Physically speaking the Toyota six will go in just as well as the BMW six did, with the exception of modified mounts, driveshaft, and if equipped with a 6 speed (which I'm not shelling $2500 extra for lol, I'm good on the 5 haha) - some hammering on the transmission tunnel. Past that, a custom wiring harness preps the car for an easy swap.
If the LS1 kit wasn't so expensive, it'd be my kit of choice, but I regard the JZ, RB & SR jap engines just as highly as I do the LSx engines, just Vorshlag ruined it for me :(

Their kit was well under half the going rate of the one other LSx kit on the market, what more do you want? Should the shops that put up all that development time and capital not be able to try to make a profit on their efforts?

No kit should be that expensive regarding an LS1 swap into anything, the FD/FC Mazda LS1 swap kits go for so much less, and to get to the point, I straight up cannot afford an LS1 swap into a BMW, I don't have the resources for custom fabrication on my own of the parts I'd need, nor would I want to spend that much money on the kit/engine, I have a fairly limited budget that I have to keep track of with my car and the LSx is just out of the question. I respect what Vorshlag is doing but their swap kit is for people who have more funds than I do, I'm doing an alternative route, cheaper - yes - but will it ultimately be slower? Not necessarily.
Either way, if I had the capability, the Chevy engine would be my first priority - but money's tight and I'm getting ready to move out (and in with my girlfriend) so I'm putting everything I can on hold until I'm settled in... Not that it helps that I may have made a hasty decision on the purchase of a 4 point lift for the garage a few days ago :shifty
Heh, anyway I'm gone for the night - redoing an engine swap on a DA... not sure why but there's 2 LS's in the garage and one car... and one may be hydrolocked so...
Be back in a few hours, Honda's are easy :D
