Just wondering how many Z owners also own motorcycles. If you own one, what make and model do you have?

That's why I bought a Z4 was to replace motorcycle riding. Love bikes! I've owned many a Ducati and not one of them has an airbag. :stickoutt

used to, BSA 441, long gone when my kiddies got interested. As a firefighter, we attended a lot of motorcycle accidents, many times the other vehicle's fault (didn't see them, etc). I'm sold on airbags, besides, riding the motorcycle was a lot more fun befor the helmet law, but it is a good law.

Had my first motorcycle when I was 14 and didn't have a car until I was 26. Rode bikes at least 100,000 miles before I had my first car. Lucky to survive it. Had good friends killed and injured.

Sold my last bike, a Triumph Tiger, when I bought my second Z4. The garage was getting crowded and I was getting tired of wearing all that heavy gear in hot weather.

Its nice to put the top down and roll around in my shirtsleeves in the sunshine. When I want to go fast I park the roadster and drive my coupe. Good to have a roof over my head and lots of airbags.

Bikes are great and I like riding them a lot, but they can be damn hazardous to your health!

I've also been riding them since age 14. Just finishing restoring an immaculate Kawasaki KZ 1000. Remember Mad Max?

Hell I remember Steve McQueen and Bud Ekins. My first hot bike was a '66 Bonneville with twin carbs and a white gas tank.

Suzuki LS650 "Savage"

Many of the motorcycle accidents I've heard about can just as easily be explained by bad judgement by the driver - stupidity kills. This is not to say that if a car doesn't look and you get bumped that you probably won't go down, but then, there are plenty of examples of car wrecks that can kill too. I've avoided many accidents, potentially lethal by just assuming any car on the road will kill me if I give it a chance.

Wish I could say that the Z was the most fun I can have on the road or track... But...

It's not.

I'm a PR Manager working with Kawasaki Motors Corp. Before that, I was publisher of motorcycle.com, so I've had access to whole fleets of bikes for the past five years. I've been riding since 1973, won several CCS roadracing championships and owned dozens of bikes, but for the past five years it's been pick of the litter from the press fleet. Currently, I'm borrowing a Kawasaki Z1000 for commuter duty. The last bikes I actually "owned" were 2001 SV-650 and CR500 (motard) race bikes.

I hoping to get a Buell 1125R soon, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I love that bike. It's great to see an American bike that can finally hang with the big boys:

How do you like the GS?

I've always been a fan of the boxer engines, but I stay mostly on the road and have never been into the adventure bikes. I'd love one of the more standard boxer tourers (1200RT?) for long trips.

I like it quite a bit. Here's a complete review I did back at Motorcycle.Com: http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/bmw/review-2005-bmw-r-1200gs-2574.html

had you asked me few months ago. i was looking for a suv for the winter. instead i opted for oem 17s with blizzaks. much cheaper alternative =P

get the r6, you won't be dissapoitned. i was thinking about selling it actually for the 848 but i couldn't justify the cost.

Great question. I had a Suzuki SV650 for the last four years and just bought a Honda CBR600RR '07. The Z4 is a bit like a motorcycle--revvy and impractical. It certainly appeals to the same sensibility!
