i have an e39 that came with front components installed to a 4-channel amp and the stock head unit. I want to install rear components and i'm confused on the wiring since i've never dealt with crossovers before.

how do i get signal to my components? from my 4 channel amp, or do i use the stock wires that are connected to the terminals of the stock speakers?

can i splice into the remote wire for the amp in order to get power?

i tried searching but couldn't find info on the wiring. any help is appreciated. thanks

2 questions.

1. Is your 4 channel amplifier an aftemarket unit?

2. Will you be using component speakers with passive crossovers?

bwo, I beleive that most car audio guys would tell you that installing compnents in the rear is a big big waste of money. You wont hear the clarity up front at all. You'll never know they are back there.

Having said that. Isnt your amp already powered up and running the fronts? If so - am unclear as to your question of tapping into the remote wire of the amp to get power ???

You should be able to use the existing rear speaker wire to run your new components. Cut the wires to the existing rear speaker and install new speakers or components and connect the other end to the amp.

Xovers dont change the install at all - instead of connecting the + and - speaker wires to the actual speaker - you connect the + and - to the Xover. The speakers actually connect to the Xover using a small piece of speaker wire that you supply.

Good luck.
